Mine did, to be exact. I've narrowed the problem down to my own PC because all other wireless devices on the network are still okay, and my stepdad's does too.

Can anyone here offer some advice? More details are forthcoming because the iPod touch's "keyboard" blows...

More details.

Sounds like you're just saying your wireless card basically kicked the bucket.

By advice, do you mean what to buy for a replacement? I've not had too much trouble with D-Link or Linksys if you're looking for PCMCIA alternatives. As for what comes internally in your laptop, that might be something you might have to consult your manufacturer or manual for in terms of part replacement (and that can be more expensive).

If it really is a hardware issue, my advice is to check and see if it's still under warranty, but thats because I'm cheap.

It's officially a Windows problem now. Mainly because I just confirmed that by trying to connect with my friend's wireless USB adapter.

Details: when I try to connect to my local access point or any others in my neighborhood, the computer attempts to connect to it but then displays a message saying "not connected - you are currently connected to the network, press Disconnect to disconnect" in the Windows XP wireless configuration.

I'm assuming you've rebooted.

I've had that same problem (in fact, my laptop currently thinks it isn't connected). I have no idea what causes it or fixed it.

Already tried the obvious (driver remove/reinstall, reboot, etc.)
After all if I hadn't I'd not be posting here now :p

Did it come with its own configuration utility, or are you trying to use Wireless Zero Configuration?

Yeah, I tried both config utilities, neither worked.
The Linksys one gave an error which said "Connected to the access point, but the internet could not be found".
