...I suppose I should mention that I used to pretend I was someone much older for a few years, but those were for unrelated reasons. Denizens of the Internet still mistake me for someone older fairly often, though. (Even though they should know by now that there isn't necessarily a positive correlation between age and maturity)

That's a great outlook you've got there. Enjoy it while you can. I agree with you on the correlation of maturity and age. I hate it when some 'adults' don't show 'kids' respect when the 'kid' is clearly more mature than them. Sadly, in Junior High, there was a teacher like that. Nearly person that ever stepped foot in his classroom was more mature that him.

Good ol' 22 yrs old.

Seems like yesterday I was 17 and was entering college.

Sometimes I feel old. I have that constant 'next step' mentality. As in, next step need a job, next step marriage, next step family.

Thankfully I hang out with old man Kirbs (kirbynite) every day so I feel young again.

It's not so bad...its when you start remembering to sort loads not only by colors but by water temperatures so as to allow for maximum color retention and counting out your dryer sheets before hand based on the contents and size of the previous load and how long it will take to dry based on the temperature and dampness of the clothes aaaand...

you know something I need help.

I just want to be younger again.

Becoming an adult is something I've honestly, since about seven years ago at least, feared.

Also... I'd just honestly throw clothes in the wash. I don't care about how they look as long as they're passable and clean.

I just dump all my clothes together in single load. But I buy very cheap clothes, so on the off chance I manage just the wrong combination of water temperature and detergent strength so I mess something up, I'll only be out maybe $1.50.

Although I have plenty of other things to make me feel old. Like buying milk and digging to the back of the shelf to find the one with the latest expiration date. Or just generally worrying about money and bills. And doing my taxes. Which I'm working on right now, and not the normal state and federal income taxes, I'm well beyond that. I'm on to state sales, use and withholding taxes.

Also, I think I'm getting one of those bad backs I always heard adults talk about.

I've never done that with my laundry. The most I do is separate towels from clothes.

Sixteen, seventeen in eight months.
I don't really have any griping to do about it, have a good job (although low paying, but whatever), people regularly mistake me for being older (like... 3 years older... )

Apparently I'm going to be turning 18 without a fanfare - everyone we'd invite is busy on Saturday.

This does not bode well.

Yeah, but something we usually do is mix three people's birthdays, since we really don't get to see each other too often.

Wonder if they'll miss that...

"A horrible person". That's what it says. "A horrible person."

We weren't even testing for that.

Yeah... parties are childish. Also, there's a lack of friends to invite.

Well, it's not too much a party, as much a family get-together. We mostly just sit around and talk the whole night, after dinner and gifts.

Sadly it's never stuff I can get in on, really, so I usually just dos omething else.

I honestly haven't had a birthday party since I was 3. Usually there's a cheap cake bought from a grocery store and maybe a card or two. I'm not disappointed though, ya know, cake and all

I'm overly meticulous...I sort them by lights, darks and towels, and then additionally by which require cold, warm or hot water. Of course I only bother on the latter if they're really nice clothes and I want to keep the color as long as possible...otherwise it's not a HUGE deal...
