I had the same questrion about DSL, a frugal install, on my Win98 comp. 28MB RAM, 64MB swap, 32MB for MyDSL extensions.

The answer? Really well.

I was tempted to try myself building a kernel.

After I saw how well DSL ran, I decided that was enough. Don't need to strain myself figuring things out.
