This has been my outlook on it. I did a scan last night, and after that, I'm just in it for the lulz. I'm interested to hear about what Nao gets put through at work because of this one... sorry Nao ='[

Most of it thus far has been 'fuck it, reformat'. It's just easier to do so since we have everything backed up.
Aside from that, not too terrible...however the joke's not up yet, since it will reactivate in four days...and it could very well make a botnet of systems to do who knows what, since now there's Conficker.D.

| Reformatting is usually easier in my case. Still, it's not too fun. Hope mine stays clean; I've had enough computer troubles already =/ |

None. 99% percent of the time it's debates where neither side has any clue what they're talking about.
Also, haven't been infected yet.

I was actually afraid I had it for a moment, seeing as my connection has enjoyed dying lately.
I didn't, though, and now things seem fine.

I was afraid I had it despite doing a whole bunch of scans, because that morning my Windows randomly Blue Screened. And ever since then, half the time I start up my browser, it can't even connection to the DNS while other things can.
But OneCure, AVG, and Avast all say I'm clean.

Well, my completely unprotected Windows machine running Windows XP SP1 with no security features or antivirus software got away scott-free, despite having a direct connection to the internet with no firewall in between.
I'm curious... What exactly do you have to do to contract this? |

Be unlucky, half the time...the other times it's just like anything else - going to 'bad' sites you know you shouldn't be on.

Isn't it inadvisable to have more than one anti-virus at the same time on the same HD? Anyways, I use Firefox, Windows Vista fully patched and AVG and I'm not infected. I think the whole comeback of Conficker was an April Fools |

It is?
Either way, OneCure is Microsoft's online webscanner.

I would say its inadvisable to not have more than one anti-virus. I always install two on client's computers. One always doing background scanning, and schedules scans, and one that just does scheduled scans (and doesn't run at all times). No one program catches everything, and a lot of times a program with will only catch some variants of a infection, but not all. |

 | True. But the general idea is that different anti-virus software programs aren't always compatible with each other. Two of them installed on the same hard drive can potentially cause problems. Some programs will even identify other antivirus programs as a threat, and possibly render them inoperable. I've never had this happen personally, but I've always understood that to be the theory. For this reason, I'll have only one installed on a system, but use either a portable anti-virus or an online scanner to double check for infection. Really though, I only do this on other computers that I know are prone to infection (due to idiots constantly working on them). On my own, I rarely bother with anti-virus unless I have reason to suspect infection. With my browsing and downloading habits, I don't really need it. All antivirus software really does for me is hog resources. Usually, its not that hard to avoid getting infected. I'll still check every once in a while to make sure though.
