But yeah, Sine/Cosine/Arctangent are the only trig functions I use outside of, you guessed it, calculus.

Are you an engineer?

Shiny new layout!
----------------------------------------------------

Hahahaha, you complain about calculus? Just wait until you take differential equations. That class is basically a frickton of derivatives with a healthy bit of integration thrown in.

Really though, the only reason you'd need calculus is if you're going into engineering or physics. (From what I've seen, Dynamics is a calculus HEAVY course).

Just wait till you get to double/triple integrals for volumes.

And why all this hate for Series and Squences. That was the easiest part of calculus

Not when your professor slaps you in the face for insufficient proof of convergence/divergence

Also, again, Taylor series and estimations

Never ever did Calculus, never ever want to.

I see the need for math skills but I doubt I'll need any advanced skills... plus I've heard horror stories from my friends about it. 3 hours of homework a night in that one class = no thank you.

I was forced to do Calculus the last two years of my life, and I sucked so bad at it, I wanted to give up Maths altogether. I did, infact give it up and joined law school. Thanks to Maths, my dreams of getting a degree in computer science engineering will never be fulfilled

Diff Eqs and Multivariable Calc sucked. Also, a bunch of the shit in EE sucks just as bad or worse. Fuck you, imaginary signals!

A better question is: 'Why do you do this to yourselves?'

Software Engineer, yes, but that's about it.

Mainly because we're not given the option not to do this to ourselves

Apparently this "calculus" ritual separates the men from the boys because only real men can understand those complex equations and symbols.

I'll put off ascending to manhood, thank you very much.

Because I'm not cut out to do another career that doesn't make me take calculus.

Although, it makes me wonder how non-humanities major fare in taking non-engineering calculus. I know they ask themselves, I'm going to be an english or history major, why the #$(%@^# do I need calclus

I am so grateful that the Australian university system only made me take courses relevant to my degree.

But maths is awesome, you can never know too much of it...unless you intend to be a secretary or something.

My university only makes you take courses relevant to your degree. There's a little bit of universality (everybody takes Biology 1010 for some reason), but it's mostly just in your major.

I think it's a bit of a shame. If we had some proper English courses here, maybe the rest of campus wouldn't be such shutins.

I love calc.

Except when I have no idea what to do

(which doesn't happen to often, thankfully)
