Square just keeps eating things, one after another, like bitesized morsels in a maze.

They should get Namco next, so they can use Pacman as their mascot.

I think their full name right now is Square Enix Taito Eidos.

So we're going to get a Tomb Raider game with Lara getting a makeover and looking suspiciously like Tifa, and there'll be a hidden room with a playable Space Invaders arcade machine.

Lara can just open fire on a whole room of Kingdom Hearts characters.

I don't think Disney would have too many concerns there.

I have to admit I am somewhat curious as to what Square intends to do with the Eidos properties... I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but I kind of got the impression that Eidos wasn't really in that good of a shape before the buyout...

I was about to say "Space Invaders is Taito", then I looked it up and aparrently Square Enix owns them too.

Yeah, I think games are released under the Taito name in Japan and the SE name here.

Then again, Taito still produces good games; look at Space Invaders Extreme.

Apparently Bubble Bobble Plus is really good but I think Taito actually decided to tackle that one by themselves so it makes sense.

I haven't even tried Bubble Bobble Revolution because I'm sure it would send me into a deep depression.

Generally any time a developer licenses out their main franchise, that is the result.

Zelda + Capcom and Metroid + Retroid Retro Studios are one of the few exceptions.

I'm not terribly fond of Capcom's spin on the series (The Legend of the FexEx Quest), but they aren't really bad.
