I have no idea. Even if we could, how much would they offer in space and bandwith? If we upload we want variety, meaning at least 50+ songs. Add in commercials too if desired.

I'm just having trouble forwarding my ports, but eh...

Well, there's ulmb which gives you 5gb of space and 500gb of bandwidth (per month) with their free plan.

You need the ability to host server software, not just a page.

So we are still stuck without a server?

Think maybe the closest thing we got is hydrapheetz doing it, but he listens to his song choices for now (unless he actually takes uploaded content and has it running all the time ) but yeah...

Hmm... that sucks.

It would just be a matter of me hacking up a script to take uploads and generate a playlist for foobar... which is probably harder than it sounds... And I can't run it all the time, either.

Well, as I said it doesn't need to auto-update the list (as songs should be approved of course ) so that means basically an upload system is needed. =\

And yeah, you don't have it on all the time either. That's another issue.

Hm, I think Winamp playlists aren't that bad... even then, with my new install of PHP I have mp3 support (for reading ID3 tags) and uploading wouldn't be too hard either.

...

Oh, damn you guys

Hey, you do that and you no longer have to worry about echo during Skype.

Or at least I won't hear myself.

And seems many are already thinking of commercials, so... this will be interesting once the first hump is passed.

I don't have PHP installed (and I haven't used it in a while), so this is a bit interesting at least. This is considering python has no modules in the vanilla distro that can read/write tags (although there are modules that can do this out there.) ._.

I uesd PHP's installer for Windows; it has a lot of built-in extensions you can enable or disable. Naturally, I added MP3 and Ogg support, considering MiniSM (is) a project I'm working on...

Unforutnately, most PHP extensions are mainly for Linux...

I could easily handle the operation solo if I had the bandwidth.

If you set the bitrate to a very low setting you could probably steam music to one other person too. It was pretty decent when it was you testing it. Maybe 8kbps would work well for you (but also probably sound bad =\ ).

I dunno, the Dialup quality relay of Kawaii radio doesn't sound bad at all, to my ears...

Better than Actual Radio, at any rate.

Low bitrate sounds like a great idea.

Well, the lowest MP3 setting with ShoutCAST is 24kbps, but there is also AAC+ which goes down to as low as 8kbps. However, the latter requires another plugin to hear, so the MP3 is the best way to go for user support.

Yeah it would, but it also has 16kbps. That seemed like a good idea for many users, but 24kbps isn't too bad either.

A lot less people would be listening to this Radio than to Kawaii radio, I'm sure.

Never heard of Kawaii Radio, so I'd be listening to this one for sure, especially with user content.

It's just the only internet radio I ever listen to. They're an Anime-Video Games station. They play some rather decent Jpop.
