If you still use IE6, don't want to use firefox/opera, and if you are on xp or later:

Please upgrade!

Thank you.

and it already has an exploit.

I'll probably stay with IE6 (I rarely if ever use it anyway), but I don't know yet.

Yeah, but Firefox and Safari do too.

Also, no Opera there. Nobody cares, I guess.

Well it's certainly faster than IE7...

Uh...for the love of GOD if you're still using 6 and are not on Windows 2000 and earlier you have NO excuse not to update.

8 actually seems halfway decent from all the info I've got on it.

Yeah, it's actually not that bad.
Although it handles some images worse than IE7.

I'm waiting for the x64 Macromedia Flash myself. I mean... then I can ditch switching browsers to see videos.

I hated having to switch stuff around so Steam would work without crashing (the server page when connected had Flash in it. )

I've actually been using IE8 for awhile now in betas. Well, using it in in place of IE7, not as my primary browser.

It's not bad, and it's nice to see even Microsoft jumping on the standards bandwagon. They still have a ways to go, though. IE8 scores a 20 out of 100 on Acid3. As a point of comparison, the next highest score is KHTML at 83 out of 100. It's the first version of IE to pass Acid2, though.

Not because of the exploits (I don't care) but because of the convenience of being able to quickly browse the internet with Win+E.

Yeah, I saw an ad for IE8 and wasn't sure what to think at first. I've tested it in the Windows 7 beta and it seemed great.

Yeah, it's actually not that bad.
Although it handles some images worse than IE7.

What images are those? Is it images of a certain size or certain type?

Not a big IE user...or a IE user at all, but I upgraded just to be safe you know? It feels a lot slower starting up than previous versions and I'm running XP SP2...maybe it's just me though. IE's always been a little on the slow side compared to FireFox for me.

Edit: no this is definitely slow as hell...compared to IE6 which I think was my last one.

I wish my school would update already. We still use IE6 here

I'm going to leave IE7 installed, I guess. I don't use it anyway.

After I found out about Firefox, I have stopped using IE and I don't plan to return to that slowpoke.

My school still has IE6 and some computers have even older versions.

On that matter, do the schools actually install any updates or are they still using retail XP? I know my school still has IE6 and WMP8, I don't know if they ever update anything.

As of two years ago, all the computers at my high school were using XP (and probably still do) but all the computers here at UCF are either Vista or the latest iMac. The macs all seem to have Firefox installed, but it performs no differently than Safari.

Chances are that by next semester, all Windows machines will have IE8.

I upgraded my computer from IE7 just to see what it was like... I don't know, something about the "improved" GUI seems a little clunkier than IE7's implementation (I'm not sure how to describe it), and the tab grouping is an improvement over IE7, but I still prefer how Firefox does it. Though, in terms of actual browsing, it's definitely an improvement, but not enough to make me switch browsers.
