In a lot of forums, especially recent ones, you can click a link labeled "new" after a thread name and it'll automatically take you to the first post in that thread that you haven't read yet.

We already mark threads read, and there's already a nice big "new" next to the threads with new content. Would it be possible to turn that into a handy link?

We weren't even testing for that.

Actually I think it's rather annoying in those forums that have it. Especially in fast-paced threads, I want to go to the latest posts and not the first one I haven't read (which may well be some pages behind)

The fact that the index page has the double-arrow that gets to newest post period works for me. Any other way also annoys me because I find myself clicking the last page anyways because I want to know what was said right then...not from the last time I posted in the thread, if at all.

If it does get implemented, I would hope it would be an optional feature, toggled in the profile.

Considering that the link would be the "new" icon that's already there, which currently isn't a link, I don't know why you'd want to be able to turn it off. Just don't use that link if you don't like it.

Also: the idea would be to link to the last post since you last viewed the thread, not since last time you posted.

I already asked this a month or so ago. Short answer, "no." In fact, that seems to be the answer for a lot of things I ask.

"Cookie?" "No."
"Wanna get laid?" "No."
"Are you stupid?" "No."
"You going to get over your tetris fetish?" "No."

I only get what I want because I code it beforehand and the only difficulty is getting it approved.

I take offense to that last one, as I clearly have.
