I guess a quick explanation is in order, huh?
Yes, the AJCS is back, at least for a trial period. A lot of you likely remember this, some of you don't and some of you weren't even around a few years ago and are wondering WTF I'm talking about.
The JCS (tentatively standing for Justus Championship Series) is a fun way to obsess over stats and geek out over posting patterns. The JCS lists how many posts there were in a day (from midnight to midnight Eastern time) and who the top posters of the day are; those users then get points and we tally them all up at the end of the month to see who's contributed the most to the board. It worked for years and I usually didn't mind doing it, and I got a little push to start it again, so... here we are.
Some quick ground rules, though:
- At least for the month of March, this is a *TEST*. Normally the ACS listed the top 10 posters; for March, the JCS will only list the top 5 (plus ties) and the scoring system will go 7-5-3-2-1. If everything goes well, then next month I might go back to the top 10.
- During the workweek, since I get out of work late, the rankings will only be posted when I get home; maybe around 2 AM at the absolute latest. On weekends it'll be as close to midnight as possible.
- Intentional spamming gets you DQ'ed for the day and might also earn you additional punishments if you take this too seriously - so don't. You don't win anything tangible if you score the most points, it's just a fun little diversion. If you decide to spree and make 50 good posts, great. If half of those posts are one-word responses, then there's a problem.
- If activity is, for some reason, in the crapper one day or if there's board downtime, I could choose to not publish rankings, especially if we'd end up with a scenario that sees 10 people tie for fifth place and get a point each.

As an aside, please help me keep track of name changes because the script I have now isn't like the last one where I could see if someone changed their name and was ranked the previous day. Also, I'm not putting down who was off the charts for the time being because - with only 5 spots - there will be times where everyone falls off the rankings.

Actually, 16 posts is a fairly good approximation of what was required for 10th back then. 1st was more like 40-70 on a good day.
