I actually thought for fifteen minutes to try to make a descriptive title for this thread that both expressed disgust and told what happened, but... yeah, I could seriously not make any better title for this shit.

People should be smart enough to not advertise such things to the whole planet in the first place. Most people don't need or want to know.

It's seriously up to the person whether or not they want to, though, and they should be prepared to deal with harrassment if they do decide they want to bring it to the public's attention.

All I can say is that it's pretty set in stone, now, that I'm getting a PS3...

I'm pretty darn sure there was a follow-up to this not but yesterday about them working on possibly adding in something about orientation.

It's in the EULA. If Microsoft doesn't uphold it, they could get in legal trouble. All it takes is one person to complain about something and Microsoft will have to fix it. This happens a bit actually, for instance Blizzard has had its run in with guilds they had to break apart for advertising they want gay members only. There are people out there who will be offended so in order to avoid legal problems it's added to the EULA and must be taken care of when it happens.

On the other side of the coin, is it really necessary to include your sexual orientation in any part of your profile? For one, I'm pretty sure that she wasn't exactly looking for romance on Xbox Live, and two, the need for some homosexuals to shout their orientation to the world annoys the hell out of me and is pretty much on the same level as furry fandom (see: Mungyodance). While I think that the ban is reason is very silly (and of course will be blown out of proportion by the quite vocal Christian-bashing communities here on the world wide web), was it really all that necessary to declare that she was gay for any reason other than to bring that completely irrelevant and useless information to light for obvious attention?
