One day per week, I have a college class. There's an amazing connection here. I'm not sure at all which type, but my downloads range from 200-800kb/sec...

If only I had this more than three hours per week.

Cable, with a decent speed of ~175Kb/s.

It's pretty fine for me, but it's definitely better than the speed it was a few years ago, when we started with a connection of 15Kb/s. It wasn't that long ago when I used dial-up, also.

I'm on a Verizon FiOS connection, which is basically consumer-grade fiber optics. It's 20Mb download and 5Mb upload.

I've noticed that it always goes as fast as advertised, unlike cable or DSL. It's like having a T1 line, but with faster download.

Cable, 4mbs download and 512k or 768k upload (can't really remember). There's a bandwidth cap of about 40 or 60 gigs (again, can't remember ), but since I don't download much thats ok for me.

This thread reminds me that my first modem had an amazing speed of 2400 bps (can you believe it?). Actually, it was very outdated compared to the computer we had, by then 14kbps was already pretty common.

Suddenly, it makes sense. I can see why there is such sloppiness now.

Ok, I have the data I need.

I'm on a cable connection. Suddenlink. The last time I checked they were one of the lowest rated ISPs on broadbandreports.

Supposedly they're horrendously slow but I haven't had any serious long-lasting problems with them (the only prolonged outage was after that giant ice storm that hit, but obviously I can't really hold that one against them). Up until like a month ago I was getting speeds of about 150kb/s but now they're averaging around 300kb/s, which isn't bad at all.
