I just hope it has less aggravating marketing than Vista. Ugh.

Well, in case anyone cares, I just sent in two instances of feedback using the Send Feedback feature. I do encourage you all to use it as well if you haven't already. That's what it's there for, after all.

Edit: Also, while IE8 is faster, it still can't handle CSS display:none; yet.

It just seems kind of soon for MS to push out an RC.

Economy. Money.

Those are the only two things I can think of...

Hey, it's part of the beta. Wouldn't make sense not to try it out.

And the early release might be due to so many people testing it at the same time.

Well, a lot of the new features are features that weren't ready for Vista, which would imply that they've been in development for a long ass time.

Looks like my news jumped the gun...

Same site on the 21st:

We mentioned earlier that Microsoft had the intention to release the Windows 7 Release Candidate in late February. It turned out however that the Windows 7 Release Candidate has been delayed to March or even April as the first builds did not meet the quality standards of the Microsoft developers. The guys at Neowin are reporting that the release candidate of Windows 7 will be released on April 10. Good news is that the build will be available broadly which means that it will not be limited to the United States only.

36 changes in the RC build worth noting...

Same site also says 'September or October' for final build and release.

Another push back, but I've already seen a leaked copy of the release candidate...so it does exist.

It's been pushed back to the last week of May.

It's coming closer. Only two months away.

And what's this? Windows 7's WMP will be able to play .MOV files and make Quicktime on Windows useless? Hooray!

Heh, Quicktime does get pretty bothersome...

I'll probably be using XMMS by that point, though. I'm hoping I get off of 56k so I'm not locked purely into WIndows anymore

I am excited about Win7's RC, though. Just hope it's as great as the beta.

I hope iTunes will do away with needing Quicktime then... Just because QT's painfully slow for me...
Stoke for the RC.

Until apple stops "trying to bundle other software when you download the player, [and stops] the constant update reminders (which also tried to bundle other software)", iTunes and Quicktime will never get a divorce. However, there are open source software for managing your iPod

I don't have an iPod, but iTunes came built in on my laptop. It makes it really frustrating to organize music in the way I want it.

I've heard there's a way to manually put songs on your iPod by interfacing with it via Explorer, but... I don't remember any of the details about it.

Wouldn't it work just by opening it as a normal drive? I've never owned an iPod, but I know there are PSP media managers and I do just fine putting things on that with Explorer...

I don't know personally because I don't have an iPod, but I think I remember from the article I read that it had something to do with the iPod hiding the directories... or something. I dunno. Either way, I know it's possible.

Couldn't you just set Explorer to show hidden folders, then? Seems simple enough to circumvent...

Actually I think the iPod is not recognized by Windows as a storage medium, that's why you can't move files manually onto it.

I usually use Winamp to manage others iPods. It's so much better than iTunes.

No, I can access my iPod from my computer, but you need iTunes to enable the setting, and the music files are categorized in some odd way which doesn't seem to make much sense. Drag and drop probably wouldn't work. (At least for the newer models, AFAIK)
