I'm just curious. How do you guys make your money or get it? Job or parents or something? I work at Dairy Queen still, and make minimum wage. I'm not disappointed though, because Washington State has the highest minimum wage in the U.S.A. of $8.55.

Once upon a time, I earned $11 an hour.

Now neither me nor my parents make a dime.

Economy for the lose!

Job that is currently under the knife. I also get paid a lot less than the other people there... (I should be making next to 15 dollars an hour and I make 11.50 + 5 hours overtime).

I used to get 14.90, now it's nothing. Well, I do get unemployment (yippie). Of course if I would work over 40 hours a week, I would only get paid for those 40 hours. Being on salary is sooo much fun.

I'm just given $5 a week, and I find shittons of money at my school.

This should change, soon, hopefully... I'm going to apply for a job very soon.

$6.55/hr as a cashier at Dollar General. About 15 hours per week - I'd be screwed if I wasn't living with my grandparents.

Yay minimum wage. There is, and I say this without exaggeration, nothing available that pays better within walking/bicycle range. I certainly spent long enough looking around for one...

Makes me feel bad that I have a job that others could use better.

Bah, don't feel bad about it. I'm pretty sure minimum wage is proportional to the prices of goods in the area (correct me if I'm wrong), so minimum wage workers, I'd think, would be equally well off regardless of location.

$11.38.

HOWEVER, my bank account is extremely healthy because I don't treat myself very often.

I remember when I used to get $5 a week from my dad when I was younger. He would also give me his pennies that I would save in a large container.

I totally lucked at and got an awesome job as a programmer for a small business, dealing with facial recognition software. It's only me and the boss now, as he had to let go of the other programmer due to the guy's behavior. That guy seemed to have stopped wanting to be fully cooperative. Though, he had a good reason towards the end. And that reason would happen to be the downside to this job.

We kept running into corrupt people. In the first company we all worked for, the president of the company, the founder, and the founder's wife/payroll lady all had their own agendas, and after three months, us, the programmers, wound up getting no pay for several months. And then we wound up leaving. Expecting pay isn't going to happen as that company went bankrupt, and several companies are filing lawsuits against them.

My boss from the previous company was starting his own company, as he knew we had the knowledge and the tools to create something awesome. Unfortunately, the people who were investing in us (well, more like the company who had contracted us), had stopped sending in checks, and made it everything such a hassle. We had a product that was practically finished, and the guy we would speak to on the phone always said that the product never worked which is why they haven't sold it yet to get us money. Turns out, him, his buddy, and his buddy's wife (who was somehow the owner of the company or at least had some stake in the company) were pulling the wool over us and their paycheck writer's eyes and were taking the money that were meant for us for themselves.

Now we're with the third company, which involves the previous company's paycheck writer. Things seem to be going alright, but he's put in a check late for us. I don't think foul play is involved as I've met him in person the other week. His mind is constantly going in every direction, and if you're not in person to tell him to slow down, you wind up having to tell him things more than once. We've told him that he's gotta deposit the checks before 2PM, and he winds up showing up at the bank like near closing time, or he sends his wife to do it, and she winds up doing some shopping before depositing the money.. after 2PM.

So yeah. I get a sizable amount of money, but it's offset by the incompetence of the higher ups

.... I think I typed too much.

Hey, at least you have a kickass job; that's more than what a lot of people here have.

Yeah, that's pretty much the bright side I keep looking to whenever that fear of having to stretch a paycheck over the course of a few weeks comes in. Hopefully, things will change as soon we we finally get a product out in the market. *nod nod*

Yea, right now, my job consists of $8/h as a cashier.
Extremely fucking boring. I'm used to either working in a bakery or a pizza place, where I'm running around on a busy day. Here, a busy day means I'm only doing 4 hours of dusting instead of 7.

I have a semi-decent job in the computer industry in the hardware end (as well as mechanical and electrical) but FUCK if the economy isn't pissing on it right now...

I mean I like the experience and all...I can probably be considered one of the more knowledgeable people in hardware now and show get A+ certified, I'm that confident, but it does nothing for my morale if my paycheck continues to get taken a shit on.

My pay just got cut today...at this rate they're going to cut hours again and then I'm looking for a second job or a new one entirely.

Sukasa - Send Private Message

I get 6 hours a week (due to university taking up the rest) at a software engineering job for $10/hour. I'm *hoping* that'll go up this summer, but I don't know.

Hey, at least the job's good.

I will soon have 2 jobs, my full time one as a Team Leader in residential care (Mental health and Learning Disabilities) earns me about $15 an hour, which is a bit pants cause I'm on call every 3rd week and deputise for the manager when she's on hols. (however I am racking up my qualifications and care work is usually pretty secure)
For the new job, as a freelance Person Centered Planning Facilitator I'll get paid $30 an hour, but it's not full time and I only do it when I'm needed. (So a few hours at a time).

I'm unemployed at the moment. I finished university in December so I'm taking things a bit slow.

My dad is retired.

My mom works as a nurse in Florida.

I'm actually waiting for the future when Kirbynite becomes President of the company he is working with now. I like to keep my options open. Been telling Kirb he needs to do a hostile takeover.
