(Posted this on Zdoom.org, but sharing it with the lovely people at Jul, SMWC, and Board II)

Back to work like a quick recovery from a toxic relationship breakup, it's me, with a new map

"ORGANICS"

MAP FEATURES:
-Natural landscaping (Dirt, Rock, Grass,Water, Etc...)
-Infused metal themes (Pipes, side areas, beams, etc...)
-High sectors for ascending

You know I debated this exact same thing in IRC. We're kinda lacking on the whole 'PC game hacking' bit just a tad. :\

Overall, though, I do like those level designs. It's been so long since I took WinDEU (NO CPU NOT HIM) and WAD Author and went for broke on levels...I mean it was when I was in high school and that was about seven or eight years ago.

I made a few between now and then, but I've not kept at it.

WAD editing/hacking, back in the day, was tedious and error-prone. With the release of DoomBuilder, editing a WAD and all it's aspects was made easier, and more feasbile.

...it's fun too. .

That's being nice about it. Contending against it was the greatest feat you could accomplish.

I'm not sure but did they ever make it to where you could get more than one floor functioning right with DOOM Legacy ports and the like? I know it could do custom sector types with water levels, etc. but the most I got out of custom sector types was fucking around with force-platforms (i.e. causes the DOOM marine to move a certain direction based on a linked sector segment length for speed/force).

It was like a DOOM conveyor belt!

Legacy had a special feature which enabled the construction of 3D floors, and multi level structures. Not sure if the newest Zdoom editor (2.3.1) has that capability, but it would open a whole new level of editing.

...and Zdoom has conveyor belt lindefs! ...just hard to make the graphics look geometrical with the passing motion.

As for water levels, one could make a submersible sector of water using a dummy sector, texture manipulation, and the defined linedefs for color and Zero gravity.
