Basically, the overwhelming amount of fad names has gotten a bit tiring on my patience; so...

Your "login-name" is the name you use most on the internet in general. e.g., "Nao"'s would be "Hiryuu", "hydraphelines" would be "hydrapheetz", etc.

However, one thing to note:
The only acceptable letters are A-Z, 0-9, hyphens, and spaces.

The login-name is currently unimplemented, but is reserved for future (i.e. soon) use, with the "username" being turned into a display name. For this reason, you will use your current username for posting/logging in..

Your login name defaulted to whatever your current username is -- if it is different than what it should be, PM me and I will take care of it.

Thanks in advance, have a great day, etc.

Ah, one of these systems.

Yeah, it's a good feature to add.

You can probably guess why the name requirement is the way it is (it's for a planned future feature if the fucking thing ever starts working right)

I like this idea a lot. It's one that we're planning to implement at some point over on SMWC because it's ridiculous how much username changing there is over there.

The only username applicable for 99% of SMWC is "Idiot".

Agreed.

Seriously though, we implemented a request name change system like a year ago and since then keeping track of names is fucking impossible. Thank god there's an "Also Known As" section in the profile where it lists all the previous usernames the user has had but god it can get really annoying sometimes.

So, would this make it so you could send PMs to either the display-name or the login-name?

But yeah, this would certainly clear up some confusion. (Or maybe I'm the only one confused )

Oh this is smart. Especially good for if you use another computer and someone changed your name while you're away....

I know what Xk talks about and I know he was pissed last night so let's see if that continues. XD

Yeah, it's a good idea. Plus it'll save on confusion and noobs wondering where Nao went in a little while...

Ok this will be good.

As long as users can't change their names because that fucks things royally.

Simply keeping the login name separate and viewable at all times will prevent any kind of confusion. Perhaps even make it appear near 'Location' on posts so as to reinforce that.

Or in the profile. That seems to be the best place.

So umm.

Am I going by my original name (DarkSlaya) or what I am known most on IRC (Aerakin)?

Well, DarkSlaya is more immediately recognizable to me. Is it the older of the two?

I don't know if you've noticed yet, but it kind of isn't really fully implemented.

So yeah, uh, you can hold off on the PM sending for now. Whoopsies.

Yes, it is. By much actually, as it's the name I used when I joined I2.

(while Aerakin is the name I've been using since I've been on #x, which is only a bit more than a year)

Why would it be a problem if users could change their display names whenever they wanted to?

Because it is. Trust me, I've dealt with several forums in which that was the case.

Complete and utter fucking chaos.
