Personally I find Jabber to be the best what with the encryption and similar. MSN comes in on a close second for being the one with the biggest contact list.

So, what's your IM of choice?

I really don't use anything now. There's no need for it since I don't IM anyone and visa versa.

I still have Trillian and I'll pop on that from time to time, but I guess most recently I've been using MSN, just because you can be signed on to it while on XBox Live. I've got two people on there that I used to work with a few years back that I'll talk to from time to time.

The only "real" IM I use is Skype, and I use it so rarely that I can't really say that I use it, or something.. I don't like IMs in general, I think.

Aside from that, all the people I need to contact (2) are in IRC.

I've been using ICQ and MSN in the past, though, and I liked MSN a bit better than ICQ.

MSN, mainly because I end up using it a fair amount.

I use AIM, primarily.

I notice that the UK pushes MSN far more than the US, though.

I pretty much only use MSN [via Windows Live Messenger]. The extra features added with Messenger Plus! Live make it even better. It has very rarely failed on me except by my own laptop's doing.

I use AIM, probably because that is what started everything in the US. I hear MSN is dominant every where else in the world. It seems Microsoft has done something good

I use AIM. I personally loathe MSN for a wide variety of reasons.

Although I just use Trillian

I use MSN, only because that's what everyone else I knew had 5-6 years ago.

I also frequently abuse the Facebook messaging system (not Facebook Chat). My friend and I have accumulated over 3500 messages between us over the past year and a half.

Reminds me, I need to install Trillian. Much better than Windows Live.
Speaking of which, the new version of Windows Live is utterly confusing.

Well I use Miranda IM when it comes to programs, most of the official clients are rather well... Bloaty and memory heavy. :/

Also, one of the other reasons for me using MSN is that here in Sweden MSN = IM, there's not other alternative.

Oh yeah, I tested it once and it was terrible. That's why I stick with v8.1. Or... whatever the pre-Vistaficated version is.

Use aMSN, best open source client for the network..

And without the vista/xp special install bullshit.

That's okay, I'd rather have sound effects and text formatting and stuff. :3

Besides, it's already installed.

Oh, and just to verify, it is version 8.1.

All IM Protocols irk me. I use IRC all the time.

AIM is good as a backup, though.
