So who's picking this one up?

I won't be, since it's 360 only. I'm still pissed as hell about that considering that the original series started on the PS/2... (and, further back, SNES)

Yep. Not gonna buy it, just gonna rent it to see how I like it.

I'm gonna definitely pick it up, but unfortunately, I've gotta a long wait. Lots of games for me to beat right now and such. Like playing through the ports of the first two games on the PSP.

I think the decision for it to be on the 360 was because the third game was a lot more successful in the U.S. than it was in Japan. Of course, I could be wrong and misread that. But if that's the case, then it's on the 360 cause it's more popular over here... If that's truly the case, then I really hope they hired a western director for the cutscenes, cause they were quite awkward in SO3.

No, the reason they went 360 exclusive was 'far more impressive hardware to deal with' from a developer's stand point.

Damn tri-Ace sellouts...

Did.. they actually pledge loyalty to the Sony brand before? Or is this more of a there needing to be more RPGs on the PS3? ;

Square-Enix more or less was a Sony brand. It hardly saw anything past that.

After the one 'sell-out to other consoles' period of last year, that changed...this was one of those titles.

I actually thought that started back in 2003, with FF Tactics Advance, Crystal Chronicles, and Sword of Mana.

I don't think so. That was just Square Enix patching things up with Nintendo again.

Given how Dragon Quest IX is on DS and Dragon Quest X has been announced for Wii, I think that SE knows where the money is. It's good to diversify between platforms these days instead of laying all your eggs in one basket.
