Trying to see if I can keep a list handy since I run into these things quite often. Feel free to sticky it if you so want:

1TB Seagate Internal Hard drive - $39.99 (69.99 - 30 dollar rebate) Ends July 6th.

Coolermaster HAF 932 full-tower case: $114.99 (159.99 - 20 - 25 dollar coupon (ZUG2479)). Additional $5 off if Google checkout is used. Ends soon.

Feel free to add your own.

Y'know what? I'm going to stick this. I can just see it being too useful not to.

...Hell, I was completely unaware storage was even that cheap. I'm seriously considering that 1TB drive now.

Oh yea. 1TB drives or less have been on the decline for a while now with the advent of 1.5, 2 and now 3.1TB drives.

Not to mention that SSDs and now hybrid drives are gunning to be the favorite in the spotlight. Eventually, circulars are going to be a likely thing of the past, so it's not a surprise that their price is going down.

Not to mention that IDE drives will likely be phased out by next year with the fact that 512 bytes/sector is going to be replaced in favor of 4096 bytes/sector...and floppies are going out of style.

Forced upgrades (if things break), ahoy!

Even for things like CD/DVD drives?

I guess it's a damn good thing I have a SATA DVD drive then. I only did that initially because both of mine are IDE, but if IDE's going out of style it at least lets me continue to use the drive when I move onto something else.

CD/DVD drives, so far, are exempt from being phased out just yet. I haven't heard anything that suggests that you should worry about that just yet.

Doesn't mean that you shouldn't consider getting a SATA drive, though. I'd much prefer it. A lot of your newer motherboards don't come with IDE anymore and some lack VGA and Floppy as well. One of the absolute monsters at the top of the spectrum doesn't even have PCI slots. The only legacy it has is a single IDE channel.

Complete lack of PCI slots? It might be (and probably is) just me, but it still feels kinda early to completely remove those.

Hell, I'm not even sure of everything that fits into a PCI-e slot (I'd imagine USB controllers as well, though, especially USB3). I only had one on my motherboard, and that's being taken up by a video card now... (which reminds me, what're the best ATI video card deals as of now? Haven't kept up with those, and chances are I'll have to gauge their prices for the future..)

Be sure to check out the newegg.com Shell Shocker from time to time. Right now its just a spiffy web cam, but sometimes they have good deals on CD/DVD drives, SSDs, regular hard drives, etc.

Being subscribed to either newegg.com or tigerdirect.com via e-mail is also a good way to jump on some deals.

Sometimes, woot has some good part deals that are bangs for the buck.

Just to let everyone know, there's always eBay if you're looking for older computer parts, like 3.5" or 5.25" floppy drives or disks, hard drives of less than about 500GB, IDE or SCSI hard drives (I know they're hard to come by now =/), ZIP disks/drives (internal and external), PCI and AGP video cards, etc.

You can even find products that are new in the box on some occasions on eBay, but beware of sellers of counterfeit products. =/

Thrift stores and flea markets may also be good sources, and you don 't have to wait for the stuff to be shipped, but it's also a hell of a lot harder to find 1 specific thing. That's how I built my Commodore 8-bit collection in the late 1990s when I still collected computer stuff though.

I can vouch for both ebay and flea markets being great sources of deals too.

On ebay I've only managed to snag up a dual 1.25ghz Power Mac G4 for about ~150ish (it's now my main machine), which is actually a pretty nice deal for how capable the things still are.

As for a flea market, though, $28 managed to get me a boatload of stuff. 1GB of varied PC100/133 RAM for $1, a PS/2 Microsoft trackball for another $1, an ethernet card for $1 as well (though I'm not sure how well it'll work in the machine I stuck it in), 12 feet of ethernet cable for $3 (hah, compare this to fucking best buy), a Radeon 7000 (to replace another machine's Voodoo3 card) for $5, and a wireless keyboard/mouse combo for my PS3 for $15. The only thing there that doesn't even work is only a single 256MB stick of PC133, which is a pretty good deal for $1.

Not sure if such deals tend to be commonplace or not, though.

I did and built it up from the mid-tower I had. Processor and GPU now run ~20C cooler on idle/load.

Core i3 Laptop from Acer. - $549.99. Lowest price they've had on a core series for a laptop. Deal ends on Thursday.
