| Noob question about Transhexlation. I'm getting sort of confused. What exactly do I use to figure out the address of a gameboy game? I've tried to use the tile viewer on visualboyadvance but it doesn't give me two digit addresses like Nesticle would. ____________________ |

I'd also recommend XVI32, for pulling ASCII or CP437 strings out of DOS games and applications =D
Also, I would recommend IDA, but unfortunately it is not freeware... =/ ____________________ Twitter • YouTube • DeviantArt • The Left Mouse Button |

I'm looking at Yoshi's Cookie right now and the graphics Djinn shows are not the same as the ones shown in YY-CHR. And is there a way to figure out how to align the tiles besides trial and error? |

| For viewing graphics in a ROM, is there anything other than yy-chr and Tile Molester/Pro that works decently/about as well? I have yy-chr, but it takes a bit of getting used to... and TMP, though I don't have a JRE installed on this system at the moment, and I don't feel like installing one just for TMP. |

Originally posted by Aoi Well, it's worth noting that there are a bunch of versions of YY-CHR floating about there (0.98, 0.99, and a .NET one) so maybe you could try a different one... There's Tile Layer Pro, but that isn't nearly as featureful as YY-CHR or Tile Molester. (I don't think TLP is a Java program?) ____________________ |

| Hmm. Apparently, the version of YY-CHR I have is 0.97 beta 31 (if I remember the beta number correctly). I can't remember if I grabbed it from romhacking.net or Zophar's, though. Probably Zophar's, so I'll check romhacking. Is the .NET version more recent (at least, in theory)? I'll probably want to check DS games, too - I don't know if the above programs handle DS games well enough (or at all), and I recall someone suggesting a different program on a talk page somewhere on TCRF... a program beginning with "Ta" ("Tap-"?). Unfortunately, that's all I recall. ![]() |

| I notice some games have full maps people put up. Is that done through a certain program, are people taking individual shots of areas and piecing it all together(sounds impossible), or is it that those games in particular might have level editors that make ripping whole maps possible? For example I see some areas in Wario Land 4 have some full maps up. As far as I'm aware there's no map editor program for that game though, so how did they get those full maps? |

| Would there happen to be any model viewers for Mac OS X systems? Yes, I'm aware I can get them for Windows and Linux; I'm trying to have tools set up across all my systems (Windows, Linux, Mac), so that I don't have to switch computers just to examine games in depth. (Or install a VM, dual-boot, or use Wine. ) |

Originally posted by sister miyagi I counted 61. Wow, that's quite a bit for a series that's pretty much unreleased/unknown outside of Japan. There was a tool called Extractor, by Nova Software, which allows the extraction of .jpegs, .oggs, .bmps, among several other formats. I believe that it can only extract files if they are done in a certain format, however. The site's no longer up, but I have the latest version on my computer. I'm not sure if the site allows tools to be uploaded, especially of those no longer available on the internet. EDIT:A ha, one missing 'a'. Also, the reason I wondered why is because I am seriously considering uploading this to the website. |

| I'd like to put forward Tinke if you're looking into NDS games. It actually supports a whole bunch of the specific formats and whatnot and can open the graphics on the fly. |

| Game Extractor To me, it's like Nova Software's Extractor, but so much better. It can extract everything that Extractor can/could and much more. I only downloaded the free version, but I might buy the full version. Strongly recommended for PC games. |
