Got a flash drive you're not using that much?

Want to give it a use?

This is a pretty good emergency thing to have on hand if you're one like me that keeps their thumbdrive handy all the time.

Intersting... I have a 2GB USB drive that has a built-in program that does the same thing; hell, the drive even has two partitions, one with the installed programs and the other where you just store stuff like a regular drive.

Partitioning, wasteful use of the drive, overall piece of crap programming, for the most part.

Oh, and the fact that it has issues with Mac and Linux and other devices that read primarily off the first drive (U3 in this case) on a USB device...meaning that if you wanted to put it inside a DVD player or anything to retrieve an image or song or something that didn't have the option of changing drives, you'd be up shit creek.

My problem when I first got my 2 gig was going against an ITG2 machine. ITG2 machines are Linux-based and therefore had issues with the layout of my thumbdrive.

This is a lifesaver because having it go "HEY HERE IS A PROGRAM FOR YOU TO RUN" is very very annoying, despite hardly using my USB as it is. Thank you!

TeraCopy.

Basically boost the capability to copy a file from one place to another. The regular version is free, the pro version has a few added features.

Worked rather well for me when I went to copy 600MB of vids from one drive to another and it went rather fast.

I heard it's a good tool to also use with Unlocker which is a good thing to get around dumb 'access is denied' deletions, among other things.

Just tried it on about 22.15GB of movies from one SATA-150 drive to another (both Seagates). 217 files took 8:52 to copy @ 43MB/s.

I'd say that's not too bad.

JkDefrag is the best defragmenter I've ever seen. It works many times better than Windows' built-in defragmenter and it has the simplest GUI I've ever seen. It also includes a screensaver mode.

I would say a bit about swf2avi here, but I'm now realizing it's useless for most things besides converting the IOSYS flash movies to very large numbers of very large BMPs.

Mp3tag is very helpful for adding or editing informational tags in many types of audio files, not just MP3s.
