Uhm...I'm sure the first three have been said and Wordpad is included in Windows.

Well... Can you legally download it off the internet and not get in trouble? If you are using Linux and run wine and not get in trouble? That's not what I do but... Whatever.

QTTabBar and QTAddressBar: two very useful Explorer addons. The first gives you tabbed Explorer windows, as well as various other features. The second gives you Vista-like breadcrumb address bars. They make stuff a lot easier to do.

I will not know if it's truly made of win because "You must reboot your computer before blah blah blah".

god I hate this.

Somewhere in one of the FAQs it mentions you only have to reboot to use the taskbar client. The rest works right away. (I think that's actually in the help file for the config editor. Bit of oversight there. )

Personally, I never trust a program to "clean up" my computer, especially one that doesn't have a long, proven track record. There's always the chance that it will clobber your registry or delete something it wasn't supposed to. (I speak from experience here.)

I'd rather use something like JDiskReport or SequoiaView for finding where all the crappy space is taken up.

Of course, deleting the temporary files and manually uninstalling software you don't use is also a good idea.

I use FolderSize (don't remember if I linked to it already) to see how big each directory on my root partition (the one I keep my stuff on) is, and if it's unusually large, I investigate what's hogging up all that space. (This is how I discovered 18GB of junk hiding in the supposedly empty recycle bin. ) Cleaning the system partition, registry etc is done by reinstalling when things start to act up. It's lazy but it works.

If you are pointing at Easycleaner now, its pretty strictly developed. I have used it for long now, no problems surfaced. It usually says if there is something wrong deleting that file and you can select which ones to delete. Its also updated pretty frequently.

This program is really REALLY awesome!

Also: foobar is an awesome audio player, it took me maybe one hour to make me love it more then winamp.

On the topic of "cleaners": Revo Uninstaller and nCleaner have worked well for me thus far.

How about these: irssi (hydra how dare you not mention this ), mIRC, and all the other various IRC clients out there.

Oh and also, useful scripts for greasemonkey(Firefox)/userjs(Opera) would be good to have in this thread.

Edit: And if anyone knows of any good, free alternatives to Diskeeper (defrag program), uh... that'd be nice.

Edit2: Also, Core FTP and other various ftp programs.

Edit3: And the reason I made the damn post, Paint.NET.

Up to date mplayer for windows and a good frontend: http://mulder.dummwiedeutsch.de/home/?page=projects#mplayer Lots and lots of features and configurability. http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/man/en/mplayer.1.html for more options than in the GUI menus.

Good word processor for linux and windows that's much smaller than most that I've seen: http://www.abisource.com/download/

rTorrent is a good Linux torrent client with a lot of features and a good interface, possibly has utorrent beat in size and possibly speed/efficiency: http://libtorrent.rakshasa.no/

This is all I can think of at the moment tht hasn't been mentioned already.
