i think i'm finally going to beat demon's souls which means that maybe by 2030 i'll have caught up and played sekiro and whatever other soulsbornes are out by then

i also think i'm going to beat kingdom hearts 2 for the first time soon so maybe i'll be caught up somewhat soon and can actually not dodge everything kingdom hearts related online bc it's all spoiler minefields



oh i'm finally playing cities: skylines since i can now since my computer isn't a garbage pile. (i skipped simcity '13) it's good, but a little too easy? even on hard mode. it's very pretty and i love some of the features (totally freeform roads and how easy it is to build bridges/tunnels, all the little decorative park things, districts)

but i have a lot of criticisms: it feels like there's no challenge in balancing the budget and there's basically no pressure from anything since you're not really penalized for fucking up (people don't even seem to want to move out even if their front lawn is covered in garbage).

speaking of garbage, it also seems like it doesn't matter what i do with the garbage budget, where i build incinerators/landfills, cemeteries & crematoriums, or how many i build -- garbage and dead people just. pile up. which is gross and stupid. i'm getting REALLY tired of the chirper messages about "what dead people smell like" (charming)

speaking of garbage AND chirper: the writing doesn't have a lot of variety, the vanilla game doesn't really have a *ton* of content and the DLC is ludicrously expensive for such a relatively old game (the bundle that has Everything is literally $130). plus after a while it feels like i'm getting the same 5 chirper messages in a row over and over, which are annoying bc nobody talks like that and also the "jokes" are the same 5 memes that were dated when the game came out and that it feels like they put them in to seem hip and cool and funny when the devs have no sense of humor. the writing's a super super far cry from sim city 2000 and 3000 which were often very funny and had a kernel of truth about the tug-and-pull between capitalists and public servicepeople in them. meanwhile there's all this "epic tech"/silicon valley/elon musk bootlicking stuff in some of the chirps which is like lame and thoughtless. like one of the chirps chastizes you for building farmland because it's "not modern enough". like who the fuck is going to think like that???? yeah agriculture isn't the bedrock of society or anything, we don't need it, we need to build an epic car rocket so we can launch cars into space because it's epic. shut your damn mouth, chirperer, you sound like a fool

also the base game doesn't have disasters, which is like what. why. you have to pay money to destroy your city with disasters when you're mad at it and you've given up and are tableflipping essentially??? some sim city clone 0/10
