It's about time that they get in some real animation rather then still images. If it was any other game series it would have been nuked so hard by the critics for only having still images.

I really do hope they'll do them for all the Pokémon instead of just selected ones... However, making at least 10 sprites (5 animations, front and back) for over 500 Pokémon? :|

Wow, that battle footage is amazing.

I feel bad for their artists. It must have been bad enough making sprites for 500+ pokemon, much less animations for them all.

They get paid for it so I don't see the big deal.

I hope they make the sprites look GOOD rather then how ugly they have looked on the other DS games.

Even if it have shiny animations it will look ugly if the art is ugly.

Also that Entei is the Diamond sprite (albiet, obviously now animated) as opposed to the Heart Gold one...wonder what prompted that? I know its easier to animate pre-existing sprites I'm sure but I figured they'd use the updated ones.

Shinies are trivial. Just set up another palette for it, you wouldn't need to actually draw new sprites.
