A guy I know who likes to make shit up claims the original (maybe Japanese?) Link's Awakening ROM has some of its source code used as padding. Is he full of shit?

iirc no, that was on a blog somewhere. I think it's the DX version, but not sure which region.

Look for "joy" though (will hit some script, however); pretty sure the code was in reference to the joypad.

I actually remember reading that this code was actually code from the dumping tool used, because it had a buffer flaw somewhere. Not sure how the credibility of this is as I don't have linkage right now.

I'm guessing there's a bunch of stuff still in Link's Awakening we haven't added.

Why don't we tackle that one next so we don't have the eternal "TODO" stamp on it?

Actually, could the TODO shit be automated so it can be assigned a user and some bottage would add it to his userpage? Do we even have any bots right now? Like, how is deletion going to be handled? Just add the tag and an admin will notice?
Also, what's up with the #cscore shit? Mine doesn't seem to work, I think I even started off with those high values...

Guess what? I just finished mapping the lost e-Reader levels of Mario vs. Donkey Kong! Including the Dummy level! I'll get to uploading them right away.

TODO doesn't work well for "assigning" because different people specialize in different things. For example, I'm good with the Link's Awakening stuff because I know what's supposed to go there; I just haven't yet.

As for bots for deletion, god no. That'd be a terrible, terrible idea. As it is you put {{delete}} on a page and an admin will look at it and decide if it needs to be deleted.

Perhaps it could be a TODO="User" to show that a certain person is intending to do something down the line?

I dunno, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense I guess, but a suggestion nonetheless.

When discussing unused music / unused parts of tracks, for say, NES games, should we upload music files to the wiki or just link to the NSF files?

Just made a discovery in CoD4MW DS. There are several references to a "Geist DS." It's entirely possible this game originated as Geist or the files of Geist were leftover when the team began working on CoD.

I dunno...MP3s/WAVs are much more user-friendly, as most OSes can play them right out of the box, but NSFs are a hell of a lot smaller. :\

I know we have a 7MB limit per upload, but is there an upper limit to space to store files we should be thinking about?

Note to Xkeeper: Go do Portal.

Note to self: Finish SMG, look for someone with more info on SSBB, and get to work on The Conduit.

If you want to take any of the unused song files I've contributed and host them directly on the wiki rather than keep linking back to my pages, that's fine with me. It might seem odd to have a bazillion links going back to this one website.

I rarely update my unused music page anyway. Sites like this wiki have put less pressure on me to do so.

If you need a larger file uploaded, you need to contact me directly; I can put up larger files (works best for archives and data/music, not images, however; the latter would probably make MediaWiki barf). But no, we don't have an upper space limit; just a usage limit (e.g. too much database/CPU time), but you'll be sure to know when we're hitting those.

It seems like we're hitting those all the time, given how friggin' slow the wiki always is.

Any idea what's causing that? Is MediaWiki just a big resource hog?

Hitting it means 500 errors where nothing loads. The slowness is just part of being on a shared server.

Section wise, it would be nice if there was one for computer games
or at least an 'other' area for stuff

I have a friends that hack mabinogi for fun,
and one of them says he's seen several unused things inside of it's archives.

If I make a page for it,
there's a possibility I can drag him over to do it

I was under the impression we accepted computer games all the time, just like other games. There are just next to none because most of us are more console-savvy.
