| I think the only exception to the "always leave it together" guideline is that it should be cropped if it's nothing but a solid color (e.g. black, white). |

| In most cases, I'd probably leave it alone (and use both screens). It's the few instances where the touch-screen part of the title screen is little more than a basic (scrolling or not) background, maybe a few sprites, and a "Touch"-type message, that I start to wonder if those should be cropped. However, I have no real problem with leaving the screens as-is, so... About the cropping - I wasn't worrying about that, so much as someone who might (accidentally) degrade the quality of the image more than expected between cropping it and saving the result. |

Oh! I just noticed our image guidelines recommend cutting out the bottom screen.
Should I change that, since everyone seems to disagree with that? -------------------- |

Out of the games I have (actual carts, and the only camera I have is the crappy one in my phone, so no pictures ), the ones that come close to that description are...Children of Mana: Touch screen is black, with just a medium-sized "Press START" line of text in the middle, and a smaller line of text at the bottom of the screen: "Press [START] or tap the Touch Screen" Hoshigami Remix: The touch screen has a somewhat uneven (top to bottom) blue gradient. The only other feature is the words "Touch Screen" in a standard thin white font, inside a thin white rectangle (with black blackground). Has anyone taken a screenshot or two from those games that require you to turn the DS on its side (probably should keep this in mind for the Wonderswan, too), like Hotel Dusk and CrossworDS, and tested those to see how they'll look in the bob? |

Ok, I've changed it on the image guidelines page.
Games which require the DS to be held sideways could prove interesting. However, they wouldn't look very bad in my opinion (try flipping a DS screenshot by 90 degrees and you'll see), so I don't think they need any kind of special treatment. -------------------- |

Yeah, I was primarily wondering how it'd look, since we haven't had any pages for those types of games, yet. But as I was also blanking on the DS' screens' resolution and the resolution of the DS emus' double-screencaps, I wondered how far it might extend the bob to the left, or whether or not forcing 320px would squeeze the image noticeably. ![]() (I've checked at least one of the dual-screen images on the wiki, so you don't need to remind me of the resolutions. )Does the change (clarification) in guidelines mean that already-existing pages that only use one of the screens for the title image have to have their title screenshots replaced? A little over half of the DS game pages only use one screen (14 out of 26 pages, such as Pokemon Platinum, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, and New Super Mario Bros.) |

Originally posted by Aoi I actually disagree with this decision. I find "double screen" DS screenshots to be unwieldy and too large vertically, and should be used sparingly. Even for title screens; "double screen" screenshots just make the BOB huge, and "TOUCH TO START!" screens add little. Most of the time, only one of the two screens is necessary to illustrate something unused. There's no need, for instance, for the top screen, showing nothing but a mini-map, if you're showing off an unused object or something. If the minimap *adds* to the image (e.g. you're showing off an unused area, and a map accompanies it), that's one thing. But including the second screen when it doesn't relate to the article whatsoever just looks sloppy, and tends to leave a *lot* of white space, unless you don't mind the image bleeding into the next, entirely unrelated section... which looks no less awful. Hence why I actually *cropped out* some bottom screens on the SM64DS page... the page now looks a lot cleaner on the whole. -------------------- |

| I don't want to unilaterally delete stuff in case I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that all of the stuff on this page is fanmade (from this page to be precise). Anyone know anything about them? |

It is a real game, check Wikipedia. It's just not terribly well known, so I can see where the confusion stems from.

Re: spambots- why not ask for the nth word of a random article to register a user? Not hard to circumvent, but we aren't high-profile enough to get custom bots; these are more likely than not generic MediaWiki ones.
