This was inspired by the discussion on the meaning of PC in the sense of inflation.

Anyway, I was talking to my dad years ago about a game that was an RPG (Role-Playing Game). He wasn't into them but was in the military and thought I meant Rocket-Propelled Grenade!

When I learned about a bank CD, I was confused at why you would put a compact disc/disk in a bank. I also thought the ROM in CD-ROM meant the drive. Like you put CDs into the CD-ROM

I too was kinda confused about bank CD, but figured it was something else. Also, I knew about rocket propelled grenades before role playing games, because of Duke Nukem 3D.

I can't seem to recall any interesting acronym confusion, just basic stuff that comes from using the web I learned gradually, like LOL, ROFL, IIRC, etc.

I knew about the RPG games long before the RPG grenades, since I played stuff like Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy IV

However, I did get confused about CDs as in banks... and I've also read stuff on sites like Rinkworks where they mingle with abbreviations and acronyms, like thinking "ROM" is referring to an image on a CD-ROM

Also, RO(T)FL and LM(F)AO aren't as common as they were years ago, yet, I still use them sometimes
