ULTRA BUMP: From what I'm hearing, motion controls are becoming optional, physics are being hammered down, and... yeah.

See for yourself.

SEGA doesn't appear to plan on letting this one become another piece of gutter fodder, for what it's worth.

I still think that there is a bit to much "shit" going on in the video fotage shown. He is all most at all time using either a spring board or a dash platform. :/

But at least after E3 I will see a whole stage fotage to see if this is true or not. :/

Looking better, though the physics still seem a bit odd in some places. (Notice how the spring launched him into the side of a ledge, tossing him straight up for a little bit and forcing him to use a homing attack to reach the spring.)

*MASSIVE BUMP*

Release date/pricing for Episode 1's been released.

iOS - 10/7, price TBA.
WiiWare - 10/11 (North America) and 10/15 (Europe), 1500 Wii Points.
PSN - 10/12 (North America) and 10/13 (Europe), $14.99.
XBLA - 10/13 (all regions), 1200 Microsoft Points.

So yeah, it's $15. Better be enough content to justify that pricing.

It's looking pretty good to me, although many people are abandoning it in favor of Colors, and others who will never be pleased STILL have complaints about it, after they pretty much annihilated the stuff I hated.

I figure Sonic 4 will be good, I will like it, then haters will intimidate SEGA out of making anything like it again and I will just have to live resigned to the fact Sonic games have a miserable fanbase.

Not sure what you're getting at, other than noting three games which consist of pure speed.

True, but everything seems to be pointing towards Colors being decent. The game is due out relatively soon and no preview outlet has discovered anything like a werehog or swords or mechs.

Imagine if the werehogs and mechs were at the very end of the game.

Dimps have actually done a better job with Sonic in recent years than Sonic Team.

Those three games are made by Dimps, (The developers of Sonic 4) and the extreme obsession of Sonic Retro as a whole has basically calculated that they're more or less using the Sonic Rush engine. But instead of boosts, you get the homing attack.

So Sonic basically controls the same in those three games.

This is par for the course, given DIMPS' history. That system without boosts is pretty much the 'old school' experience, anyway... the old Genesis-based engine has been lost to the mists of time. (I do not consider SEGA or DIMPS to really have the expertise to replicate that, nor the need to.)

Well I can say the iOS version is pretty damn fun. Very short but I suppose it's worth the $12 I payed.
Slightly Replayable, looks pretty nice, runs pretty well even on my cruddy 2G iPhone.. I suppose that's saying something.
Controls are a bit weird, but meh.

Not all it's cracked up to be, though. I'd give it.. I dunno, 6/10?

Edit: oh, I have to put this in. To me the mine cart level seems like a bit of a 'tilt forward to win' (as opposed to 'press forward..') level. Fun, yet boring. (If that's possible)

Kinda excited for this, now that I know it's (thankfully) getting a Wii port. Might wait to see opinions on it, though... to see whether it completely sucks or people are hating it just for the sake of hating it.

I'll give the Wii version a try tomorrow. I'd put more stock into how the console versions play anyways since the iOS port probably isn't the best control-wise. (Not to say it's bad, but it's not as natural.)

Tempted to get this but $15 is a lot to spend. Last time I spent $15 on a single titles was World of Goo and I already knew of the accolades it had received so it was a done deal. With Sonic 4 I'm more iffy, especially since I'm only somewhat partial to the old games.

The bonus levels are novel; Special Stage from Sonic 1 meets Cameltry. Makes sense.

Only played through the first act. Doesn't suck so far.

Of course, my Wii has to stop freezing when I run the Shop Channel updater through the System Channel Updater first.
