Sorry guys, i wont go on here for a while... school keeps me very busy, and i gotta do other stuff.... shadey, which ds's do you use? I will try to help you. I use a regular r4, r4i will probably work. my ds is a blue firmware phat, and pink firmware lite.

I have a DSi and i have access to a DS lite ( Pink firmware i think ). I got firmware.nds on my R4i if that helps.
So i can load the firmware on my DSi and then put the R4 iinto the normal DS lite and try do ds download play.
So where can i upload my level for someone to do the hex editing for me?

To check your ds lite, have a game card in it, go to pictochat, and then remove your game card. the color that takes over the screen is the one you tell me. I know abs. nothing about firmware.nds because I never needed to use it. ask someone else on that. Dsi, im pretty sure they put in something that blocks the edits.... i think its called a checksum (correct me if im wrong) I have no knowledge of dsi, maybe someone else here will answer dsi questions. as for uploading levels, create a mediafire acount. if you have facebook or twitter, mediafire can connect to that, making things easier. After you make the mediafire account, upload your file to there, and post a download link here. im pretty sure its not against any rules.

ok the ds lite is pink firmware. for the firmware.nds its loads up pink firmware on the dsi ( or its blue not 100% sure ) but i dont need it now anyways.
I made an account and uploaded the level.

PS: When the hex edit method was uploaded it said anything that worked on multi-card now works on single-card.
This level worked on Multi-card no problem so i dont see why this wont work.

Ill take a look at the level when I have free time. Everything works on single and multicard is only if you use the newer revisions, which i havent tried.

ok. ive checked out your level and I *THINK* i see your problem. you have spinies. im pretty sure spinies are NOT allowed in the level. try removing the spinies, and replacing them with, lets say, koopas or goombas. try this and hex edit the game again, tell me if it works.

Damn no luck! eh on multicard spinies work fine i have tried serveral times doing this. I even used a level that has hardly been edited and the hex edit didnt work. I must be doing something wrong. spinies should work fine. Can u try hex edit it?
it could be a firmware problem but i wouldnt think so. So maybe could u hex edit the level in, test it, if it works upload a patch. Ill patch it to a rom, and see if it works of the ds and dsi i have. I would really appreciate it

I started playing again, and I stated getting ideas for new MvL stages. I started reading through the pages, but there is quite a lot of pages to read through.

Is there are recap of what happened that I can read? I downloaded the latest NSMB editor and imported a stage made by someone else, the connection is lost while my brother is downloading.

From what I'm understanding, I need NSMBe 5.2 r116.

I have NSMBe 5.2 r102, how do I update it?

And what's this about hexing? I have xDelta for when I hexed pokemon Black.

I have an AK2i

EDIT: I've read through all pages, and tried everything, except for the hexing. Download play still doesn't work.

EDIT2: I flashed my Dslite (downloader) and my DS phat (host) with FlashMe silent, and still no dice.

I have been away for a while with school. I am yet to check out all the new features since r116.

Dirbaio, remember our conversation on a patch button that removes minigames and uses that space for edited levels leaving the header unchanged making Ds Download Play work for all games.

I would be happy to come back and do some work on said button, or any better ideas you may have.

And Awesome Tutwig, The hex editing was when I first discovered that by not altering the header you could play Ds Download Play. Luckily I had a compatible cart. The hex editing was implemented in r116 so download that rev and use it to test if your cart is compatible. If not you may have to wait until button above is implemented.

dont use the latest revision (154)

For download-play use the r116.



It operated in using r116. Thank you.
By the way, is this a specification though screen scrolling doesn't operate normally when the number of ZONE is changed?

@s If a rom has been edited by any rev other than r116 for anything (not just Ds Download Play) it will cease to work in Download Play as the header is changed.

@Dirbaio I can start work on the Ds Download Play button. Can you tell me/find again where the data was for the buttons on the title screen so we can remove the Minigame button (off screen). I realised that we can store the Ds Download Play patch byte and any data in a reserved area at the end of the rom (maybe a few 100 bytes depending on whether it may be used for other editor only data). That way it won't be read by the game and it is extremely unlikely that anyone would have used up all 20MB of free space.
