Today's adventures in ADHD:

  • Decide to take a short break from work at ~1:30 PM or so

  • Browse some new posts on Jul

  • Quote Kak's post saying "The chain of events which lead me to this place" to mention something about me finding Acmlm's board through FuSoYa's website

  • Stop typing the post and look up whatever URL said website happens to be at these days because I couldn't actually remember

  • Go there, look at old news posts, remember that Lunar Compress got updated to support the same compression format I had reverse engineered/reimplemented for my Kirby editors

  • Download it, remember that the actual de/compression code isn't open source so I can't compare it to mine

  • Start thinking about compression on old systems in general and wondering if I could/should write a SNES adaptation of Exomizer

  • Go to the nesdev wiki article about Famicom Disk System technical details and thinking about the concept of writing a custom disk loader/decruncher and modifying games with it to make them load faster/require less disk flipping

  • Tab back over to Jul and realize I never finished writing that post and that I had completely forgotten I was writing it in the first place and that it's now two hours later

  • Resume struggling to get some actual work done instead of fucking around online

I looked on Facebook. He's now working for Tinder as a senior level programmer. So your instincts were correct. He landed on his feet, that's all the matters. I forgot Yahoo! bought them out. Obviously it didn't help them much.

I assume it actually did the opposite, especially considering how bad Yahoo management is.

Re: draftchat, I've thought that maybe having a "you edited your post, are you sure you want to leave the page" thing might be useful, but these days I'm not sure how useful that would actually be.

I thought we had one of those warnings already, but it seems I'm mistaken.

Meanwhile I have several Jul tabs open, most on threads I (might) want to reply to. I think only one has something written.

This board actually has basically no Javascript and what little it has is mostly broken, if I recall correctly.

I must say I find this most refreshing.

May have to setup my Retro PC with Win95 and use it as a dedicated Jul machine.

Or is HTTPS required?

HTTPS isn't required, but you can always use some other method of accessing it. I used a https-stripping proxy with some success, or Kmeleon (which had a few-years-old Win 98 release that worked with several modern https sites)

Welcome to my worst two weeks in 2015.
And I had late shift the entire week. So I only got about 4-5 hours of sleep in that time.

Ouch. Well, I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but it's longer than two weeks. But it's not every day.

Thankfully, the baby seems to sleep through it. Which is odd because trying to get him to sleep in general is a trial.

Yeah, that's probably going to be my life in the next 5 months or so. Some renovations are supposed to start around that time...

Don't remind me. Paid all the bills yesterday and was happy because there was still a considerable amount of money left, then the tax bill came. Bye bye savings increase
