Man, I agree. Cleaning is always so terrible and undesirable to do unless I'm extremely bored and aching to do anything.

But when you're done and everything is clean and holy shit there's a FLOOR?! Amazing.

YES. I love the post-clean feeling of being able to move around without random stuff and clutter everywhere is great.

Rediscovering the floor was fantastic. My floorboards are quite pretty when there's no cat hair or random spills on them.

I agree it's great to be able to move around well… and find your stuff too!

But far and away my favourite part is that there's no little voice in my head telling me that I need to do any housework any more!

i don't like chores if i have to do it b/c of someone else.

however, on my own, it can be "TRR" or:
  • therapeutic

  • relaxing

  • refreshing

This is also good, usually I'll put on a record or two and go to town, it's a nice de-stresser.

Someone should make a new thread for talking about household chores. It seems that we have enough discussion going on for that!

On an unrelated subject I'm posting from the tiny little eeepc again. It's really smol.

Chromium and Firefox both crash now, so I'm using Midori. I just wish I could shrink the UI more, it takes up so much space on this thing...

Jul in Links works well because it's table-based (so the layout persists) and it's also just basic HTML without any silly fancy crap.

pretty much this. at this point it's pretty much progress for the sake of progress.

it's kind of the same for hardware? I don't feel that computers or smartphones are significantly more powerful than they were 5 years ago. I don't feel any incentive to upgrade my hardware, and my phone is nearly 4 years old, laptop 2 years old.

ALL OF IT EVER

WE'RE WATCHING YOUUUUUUU

Seriously, a lot of it isn't even for the website's functionality. So much of it is stuff that tracks you. That's why you'll often notice a slight performance improvement if you install things like Privacy Badger.

Computers ARE getting better though. (This video goes into some details). It's just a much bigger focus is going towards making things smaller. We are starting to get close too how small we can do things using the type of tech we have (Silicon just not gonna work if it goes smaller), so there are some hurdles to overcome in the near future.

Mmmm, well, if we want to support AI at some point then we still need more power, at least in certain regards.

Plus, strictly speaking from an entertainment standpoint there is a lot to like. I don't think I have been very impressed with the graphical level of a game in quite some time, but in the future we could hopefully stop the graphical fidelity race (which, let's be honest, have turned into a crawl) and focus on more important aspects to help create better immersion. (Such as frame rate, drawdistance, removal of pop-in, etc).

The most graphical impressive recent game for me is BotW, because the world you see at a distance scale in a mostly natural way as you get closer to things. It would be nice to see what those who actually put some effort into the right things can achieve with a bit more horsepower!

Well, yes, always; more powerful computing allows us to do a lot more things, and if nothing else will make the morning boot-up faster.

(Besides, computing power can be used for a lot of good, too.)

I believe that, while some new web-related technologies can be helpful, they're generally used in incredibly wasteful ways that only complicate the code and slow down the page. I usually don't see any problems using normal common HTML, CSS and JavaScript (when needed).

I heard people talking about traveling in some other threads so...

After a week of being on vacation at about 75km (~45 miles) away from home, I learned one specific thing about myself: My stomach doesn't seem to like car trips very much. Thankfully, due to some medicine I take before going on car trips I don't end up feeling nauseous or anything, but I still feel very very tired and sleepy afterwards, and it still takes a little bit for my stomach to get back to normal. This ends up mostly eating the rest of the day.

This time I didn't play Mario Party 4 or 5, but Mario Party 2 instead and also Mario Golf - Toadstool Tour, a game which I had left aside for way too long. I also went fishing for a bit and actually caught three small fish!

Fishing can be fun, but I never really could get into it because & unless you're planning on eating them, and I can't stand seafood & you're just killing for fun, or injuring at the least. Plus I get uneasy around hooks and other sharp things.

Now, virtual fishing on the other hand ... It's been interesting to watch Raspberry play some of the fishing mini-game in Everybody's Golf. It's simplistic and probably really easy to play, but it's at least amusing.
