I went back to Mechwarrior Online after being off it for 3 years and it's gotten way better.

I still suck though.

I've been worried about job opportunities lately but I shouldn't be because I've found people to network with and one of them might lead me somewhere.

I needed to quote this.

Take a wild guess what happened today. Not exactly what I'd consider fun.

and yes, it's exactly as obnoxious as it was that day.

I went to Disney recently and Magic Kingdom felt...smaller to me than the last time I went for some reason, I have no idea why but it just felt like it wasn't as immense as I remember it when I was younger

Also I didn't really feel that DISNEY MAGIC but it could have been because that whole week I was feeling really anxious and worried about things, or it could have been because I had to take a bus into the park and the ferryboat out of there because for some godawful reason the monorails into MK were not being run, only the EPCOT ones and I guess the resort line

(the ferryboat sucks, don't ever ride it unless you absolutely HAVE to)

or maybe it's just the fact of growing up, generally it makes certain things lose their magic and all

like how back in the days, I was excited by NSMBDS and then NSMBWii, but now, all those NSMB games feel like 'more of the same'

I was last there when I was around 6 years old, and i had the time of my life. Back then, I wanted to go back all the time. Nowadays it isn't like that, sadly.

It doesn't help that Disney keeps price gouging tickets, plus the food is expensive and recently they've been making cuts allegedly due to the Shanghai Disneyland opening.

Also I did the behind the scenes tour on that last visit, which meant we got to see the Utilidors (they aren't underground tunnels, they're ground level corridors and the park is just one level above them) and the backstage warehouse where they store the parade floats. Fun fact: the drop at the beginning of Pirates of the Caribbean is because they had to make room for the railroad to cross over.

But yeah, I guess some of the magic did wear off. I think it was more how I was feeling that day though, I had been having nightmares the week before and felt constantly on edge because of job hunting. It sucks because I still have a little bit of Disney interest in me in spite of disliking stuff like Frozen and It's A Small World and I still wanted to feel excited about that day a little bit more than I was.

I've never been to Disneyland since I was 1 year old too and yet I've been to WDW like 5 times in my life so it feels like I'm missing out since DL has stuff like Cars Land (the movie wasn't that great but you have to hand it to the imagineers for pulling off that area) and the Indiana Jones ride (we only have that goddamn stunt show at Hollywood Studios which I think is being ripped out for Star Wars/Toy Story). Plus the monorails are cooler looking despite not really being that big of a mode of transport as opposed to WDW and I think you can still request a ride up front, unlike here where it's been prohibited due to a crash in 2009 that killed a driver.

I remember those monorails in Disney Land. I actually had a plastic one I brought home as a collectable, but I have no idea where it went.

I have a little pullback toy of one somewhere back at my old house. Always wanted that bigass electric monorail set they sell at the parks with the track. Somebody actually had bought one of the MKIV cars when they retired them and had it in their yard on display until they decided to sell it to some gift shop.

I don't know if it has become more of a problem in recent years or I just don't remember it being an issue when I was younger but the Magic Kingdom always has hordes of people in it. If there is a parade going on you are basically stuck. To be fair though, EPCOT can be bad too if there is a parade in the World Showcase area.

I'm not sure where you stayed but if you were staying on Disney property then the bus shuttle service that runs between the parks and hotels is a pretty solid way to get about. The gap between each is ~15 minutes and it's just an easy way to move about Disney. For the Magic Kingdom though, it is practically mandatory. The parking lot for the Magic Kingdom is awful because it isn't even close to the park like they are for EPCOT, MGM or Animal Kingdom. However, if you take the bus, they practically drop you off at the entrance and leaving is just as easy. The Monorail only makes sense to me if you are going from EPCOT to the Magic Kingdom (or vise versa) or you are leaving the Contemporary Resort. Can't say much about the ferry except that I used to take it when I was much younger. But ya, not sure how they fucked up the parking lot so badly. It could be Walt's fault since that is the only park he had a direct influence on at WDW before he died. Who knows.

Heh. As I mentioned before, Disney parks can be overcrowded depending on what month you decide to go. They are free to charge what they want because of it. They have gotten especially stingy with fountain drinks in recent years at hotels. To use a soda fountain, you have to buy special cups with RFID chips in them. Otherwise the fountains won't activate. I don't remember the prices for the cups but they charge you an arm and a leg for them.

The Backlot Tour at MGM used to be better before they put in Lights, Motors, Action!. The tour actually had a street dedicated to prop houses used in various movies and commercials. I will say I didn't know they closed the ride until now. Sad because being behind the scenes is an interesting concept in the same vein as to why I like TCRF. Also a little sad how they are tearing up MGM for Starwars. Oh well though, change is inevitable.

Never heard about that bit with Pirate's of The Caribbean. Nice fun fact. Here is my fun fact that most people seem to overlook nowadays. If you compare the size of WDW and the size of Disney Land, you will see that WDW is gigantic. Walt had very different plans for WDW than what currently exists there. He really intended to build a city. He called the city EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow). The Magic Kingdom was an idea added later into his concept of EPCOT. Walt died before anything became of the city although ideas from it have been utilized in the WDW (Monorails, EPCOT theme park and so forth).

If anyone is interested, here is a video of Walt explaining his vision of EPCOT.

There are a bunch of other little fun facts I can think of but I've written enough for now.

I wasn't staying at the park, I drove up there since I live pretty close by.

I've known about the EPCOT thing for a while. Kind of disturbing when you think about it in detail though, Walt wanted Disney to have full control over the housing or something like that. Celebration in Florida is almost a realization of that supposedly but I've heard living there is a bit creepy. Really creepy.

I can't find a source at the moment but I think Disney actually has rights to the WDW property as if it were a legit city. Walt wanted full control over everything so he could build whatever he needed to accomplish his vision. It probably helped them a lot when building more parks and attractions at the resort.

I have a hard time agreeing that Celebration is a true realization of EPCOT. IDK, maybe just my opinion.

I know I used to pass Celebration on the drive to the university I went to, but I never really heard anything about it (good or bad) other than it being made by Disney. Even if it looks really nice, I must say it would probably feel weird living in a place that feels like a movie set.
