Of course, the problem with that is that the phone booths have been gone for awhile even before they started removing the payphones themselves. The only place I've seen a phone booth was inside, and it had glass doors so it wouldn't have been much use to Superman.

Ouch, that sucks. Last year I had my appendix decide to rupture and mess up my semester within the first week of school.

We haven't removed pay phones at all.

We've just bumped up the price. Happened a few years ago, 50 cents now to make a call. Annoying...

I think phone booths died because it became a fad in the 1970s or so to stuff as many people into a phone booth as possible, causing all kinds of injuries and suffocation and such.

Phone booths are all over the place here actually. Certainly haven't gone out of style.

Then again, I don't see people trying to stuff themselves into phone booths either.

I still see a lot of public phones, but no one ever uses them anymore.

A shame, I can't stick my finger in the coin return slots anymore and expect to find change.

Back in the 1990s, my parents briefly lived in a house next door to a Mobil station. They'd harvest change that people dropped when trying to use their phone booths from their cars

The number 1 iPhone app: Phonebooth Locator.

There are a few phonebooths in the city centre, but I've never seen anybody use them.

Hahaha, that would be pretty ironic. I read that iPhones have been having problems with the alarms since the year started.

Mine hasn't. 10:00am like normal.

If I remember right, the problem was with one-shot alarms rather than ones that repeat... I'm not entirely sure, though, since I don't really use the alarm on my iPod touch. (Since it has no speaker... )

I can't do that either but that's because the beggars always get to them. Multiple times in a day, mind you. :\

I use an old '90s phone-clock for my alarm. No iPhone problems here!

Also, I used to use Payphones all the time. I only got a cell phone because my mother worried about being able to contact me--even though payphones worked just fine.

There are still payphones here, but I don't think I ever actually used one even before I had a cell-phone...

There are still some payphones around here in Puerto Rico, but they're all vandalized and I'm not sure if you could actually use it now

Everyone, even 7 year olds, have cellphones here... ... ...

fun fact: there's still a law here that everyone must have access to a payphone.

Well they do stand around here, but most of them don't even accept coins anymore rendering them completely useless. Some are also broken.

I need access to one! I don't have a cell phone!

(Then again, if there was an emergency, you could always ask a stranger for one. But still. Rarely needed.)

What do they accept? Leaves?

I vaguely remember German pay phones accepting the old Deutsche Mark in addition to the euro.
