| | Metal_Man88's Post | I use Net10 with an ancient 2005 phone. Battery life sitting at standby is 3 weeks. New batteries can be had for $4. $30 for 3 months of service.

That is pretty nice, actually. I use TracFone, which works for me since I do not text nor call people all that often. |

| I also got a phone that gets double mins per purchase, so I am spending like 40 dollars every 2-3 months. Which is nice. |

| Before I got my phone I would just use Skype with the option to call phones ... I'd pay about 9/month for unlimited calls and a phone number. |

I don't even need to call other people's phones on Skype. It's kind of nice, but I guess I just happened to luck out.

I don't use the phone often either, so something like Tracfone is better for me than a monthly plan.
My understanding is that basically anything with cell-phones and foreign countries (even Canada) tends to be bad, unless you specifically buy a special plan in advance...
As for skype, I've never actually used it...

Originally posted by Terra Yep, I got a cell phone in Germany (my normal one was CDMA, so it didn't work in Europe) and I couldn't call North American numbers from it. Once I put a few euro into a pay phone to call my mom about something important.
So I suppose pay phones do still have a use after all, then.
I remember when we went to London we briefly looked into international cell phone options with Verizon (who is CDMA, but they're part owned by Vodafone), and quickly decided that we could just deal with being cut off from people for a week.

Having looked at a few plans... it's easy enough to add unlimited calling to the US from Canada if you need that. Good luck with international calling without spending an arm and a leg.

I remember hearing a few years back that pay phones were being replaced with cell phone booths, where you payed to get boosted coverage or something and a quick charge. Anyone know what happened to that? |

Just has Wendy's for dinner.
None of that for 2011. Going back on my diet that worked well for me in 2009. I think I'm going to do it every other year until I get to a weight that I'm happy with.
Even though I wasn't on a strict diet (and no soda) this year, I still lost weight.
Same here. I don't plan to lose weight though, but rather gain muscle, so I'll have to work out more regularly. |

I plan on losing a lot of weight before summer. That way, I won't melt as fast.

I haven't heard that... most of the removed pay phones I've seen are just conspicuously empty phone boxes.

| I remember hearing it because people were wondering where Superman was going to change his clothes in an emergency. Such a stupid thing is the reason it stuck to me, I guess... |
