Our local newspaper (The Spokesman-Review) has been laying off a significant number of journalists and continually downsizing the paper itself in recent months, and yet they keep giving away $20,000 two or three times every week as part of a stupid contest, no doubt conjured up by some idiot marketing executive. My girlfriend's mom (who works for the company) says that since they've already run the ads and promoted the hell out of the contest, they can't just cut it short.

Corporate idiocy at its finest.

My uncle has two friends who work for Club Penguin (Disney owned).
They got a backstage tour of a couple rides at Disneyland, tickets to the park, a flight down there, etc.
If they didn't blow so much money, maybe they wouldn't have to fire people!

Friend that I used to work with works up in Disney. I hope he's okay. He does have a second job though...
