| i'd be surprised if there are any hackers on this forum that don't admire your work, celux! I really can't wait to play it. Your level design has inspired me. |

Yup, I'm impressed of your work, especially, I'm congratulate you once you accomplished your next level design.
Nowadays, I'm still waiting for future hacking stuff, just if it comes from you and others, I'm really proud.
Keep up the work, Celux!

Hi guys, i'm new to this thing (i don't speak english very well btw), but i love level design, so i'm making mine:
This will be Bowser Castle, It will have some cave, lava, secret rooms...
The problem is, i don't even know how to save the level to test in-game (keep saying the file don't exist), and i can't find any tutorial on the internet on how to save and put your level ingame, someone have any?
Thanks! |

One thing I think you should know is that you should flip the normals of those faces.
See the bluish faces? Those should be inverted by right-clicking and then select "reverse faces" in the menu that pops up.
The thing is, Mario'll only be able to walk on the white coloured parts.

This guy gots a nice screen capture program. Just use that and you can edit it with paint.NET or paint and just copy the part you want and resize it to full image size and upload through imageshake. Much easier.

A new level I made that actually serves relevance to the plot. This stage is meant to make Mario realize that hes a video game character and therefore allows me to make more game-play focused levels.

Super Mario 64 Hack - Rumbly Crumbly Cove
Remember that level I posted about awhile ago? And all those questions I've been asking recently? Well, they were all related to this. It's ESSENTIALLY my first level, though not entirely. I had made a few others before in Blender, but I honestly can't get Blender's objs to work and they weren't that good anyway (A couple of them were though... I'll figure out how to work it some day).
This was my first level in Sketchup though. What's great about Sketchup is that since it's shape based, unlike Blender which is more focused on the individual vertices, it keeps that blocky shape that the original N64 game had. I dunno, high poly levels look odd to me with Mario running around in them.
This video shows various parts of the level. It's kind of small, honestly, but make sure to read the description on the video, I might make another video next weekend or over break showing the music 'feature'.

It looks really good and the things you've done is quite clever. However, I'd focus on getting the textures properly aligned. Good job

Some things honestly aren't fixable. I won't point fingers, but if you look carefully in most of the really good hacks, they've all got at least a couple texture issues.
I think I might be able to fix the cliffsides, though. I'll try that.

I decided to scrap working on a direct rip of this level and just stuck with making my own version. My hack is going well but I'm not ready to give up making new levels.
I've made 6 levels so far, that's 42 stars, I also made 4 sub-worlds (including my HUB) that bring my star total up to about 50 stars. But like I said, I'm still not giving up creating new fresh levels so expect a lot more of me.

SM64 Star Road - Lagoon Side Hideout (Major Hack P5)
After yet another two months, here is a video of the fifth fully finished level in SM64 Star Road (two you have not seen). Rather then the usual plan, i decided to go for a normal star and show off the level on the way rather then grab all the red coins.
Lagoon side hideout is the first water based level of the game. There is also a minor glitch I'm trying to find a fix for which has snow coming from trees instead of leaves (because i imported over Cool Cool Mountain).
One last thing: sorry for posting yet another bright, sunny level. Since all the levels I am working on now after this are not the same type of level (desert, ghost house, snow, lava) you should be seeing something different next time. Regardless, the next video I'm uploading for Christmas is not at all bright and sunny .
Enjoy, and please leave feedback!

woah dude, this is f*cking amazing.
Some VERY excellent level design you've put in there, looking forward to seeing the finished hack ;P
fwiw, I guess we won't see some of those fancy asm hacks like in Missing Stars, will we?
Anyway keep up the work, I remember you posting some other smaller levels here but giving up due to the immaturity of the hacking tools.. nice to see you getting along that great now |

kudos to you skelux, you're a damn good level designer and i honestly admire your consistency. my hack will probably be done by 2018, after i redo each level 17 times, but on the bright side there is no bright side
keep up the good work, we're all more or less rooting for you to bring sm64 hacking out into the mainstream

Looks splendid Celux, you and Lugmillord (on YouTube) seem to be doing great!
How are you dealing with camera problems? I've played the demo of Super Mario 74 (by Lugmillord) and camera was very problematic in some levels. A good advice is to experimenting replacing the same level in many spots: each level has its own hardcoded camera settings, so its important to experiment with this.
Also, I'm digging the work you have done on the music, have you been using the XML importer? |

For camera problems I am simply making sure to leave enough space for the camera to be able to turn around. In a cave area in my forest level, there is water surrounding the path so you cannot get close enough to the wall for the camera to go through.
I'm varying between the two music importers depending on which sounds better for the particular midi. The bobmberman 64 music is done with the original importer. I'm also having to hex edit drums into some of the musicxml .m64 files, since the option for instrument 127 isn't there and 10 is often not a proper drum set. |
