ok, i have an issue with a level that i created in sketchup and imported with messiaen's importer. when i first imported it, it worked fine with no errors or geo
screwups or whatever. then i went and edited it a bit, imported it again, and now whenever i try to play it, i can only go so far and hit an invisible wall that
seems to never end. any suggestions on how i could fix this?

Are thier holes in sketchup file?

yes, the edited form is a bit bigger than the original one, but what do you mean by holes? if you mean empty spaces, then no, there isnt. I found away around the problem for now, i just imported with a smaller scaling so that the invisible wall is outside of the model boundaries, but id like to be able to return it to the original scaling if possible.

If you had to make it smaller to fit, then I don't think the original scaling will be possible.

The game's engine puts an invisible box around each level, spanning from [-32768;-32768;-32768] to [32768;32768;32768] (or something like that just with a different number)... since the player's coordinates can't get any bigger than these (16 byte coordinates), there's an invisible wall their.
So no way to fix that problem.. you can just scale the level down or move it a bit if there's still room to the other side.

ok, i guess i'll have to keep it like it is, then. strange, though...ive done the same thing to other levels, edited them and made them bigger and re-inserted them, and they work fine. ohhh i hope i didnt just jinx myself....thanks, though!

How do you edit the Health Bar, the lives icon, Coins icon, stars, and so forth on SM64. I can't find a way to do that. D:

I believe that you need to use TileMolester to do this.

I don't. I said I BELIEVE you need TileMolester. I base this belief on editing the HUD elements from Super Metroid.

This doesn't help much then... I don't want to download a program that I don't know how to use without verification that it will get the Job done. TT64 is what I'm famillar with and I have not found anything that can help me and I really wished there was.

All right, you two, break it up here, this is for help, not senseless bickering.

Zero One: Don't offer help if you don't know what you're doing.

Silver: Don't RESPOND to help if it isn't any use to you.

On a third note, this topic is kind of a massive jumble of questions and has begun to lose its usefulness. I'm not sure what it may be replaced by, but eventually a new setup may be made to force some order on this topic itself.

Maybe split it up into multiple threads, each for a different type of question? Like one for editing levels, one for making 3D models, one for stuff like ASM and hex editing? There are already some threads here along similar lines, like the music hacking thread.

Back when this forum started, TT64 and SM64 hacking meant pretty much the same thing, so that topic made sense. Nowadays, with many other programs for specific tasks and tons of stuff that need more advanced editing it makes sense to have a thread for each topic (just like we actually have).

This specific thread seems outdated, perhaps it would be interesting to close this and make a topic more specific, such as "Help with Toad's Tool 64 Usage". SM64 Hacking is too broad.

We also really need a friendly "Getting Started" thread, with a list of programs, topics (so people can how where to ask specific stuff) and tutorials (could be link to YouTube videos, there are plenty of tutorials nowadays). We have the SM64 Forum Info, but it isn't that helpful anymore.

Just my two cents.

May I suggest a basic help fourm and a advance help fourm.
Anyway does anyone know how to resize rotating platforms.
I asked this question before but I think I made the question too complicated to understand.

Someone else will have to be making these tutorial things/getting started, as I'm cynical about whether anyone really looks at any of the help. From my experience, they just ignore all the text above the sticky line and click "NEW TOPIC DURRRR." Heck, I told them not to make 'help' topics, so they made 'question' topics. If I could have it hacked into the forum system, I'd have a giant blazing neon sign saying "DO NOT MAKE NEW TOPICS, NEW PEOPLE. DO NOT CLICK NEW TOPIC. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. IF YOU CLICK THAT BUTTON I WILL REACH THROUGH THE SCREEN AND STRANGLE YOU TO DEATH. ARRGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

As for advanced/basic forums, NO. There is no reason to divide them up like that, when the 'advanced' is only about 3-4 people at most while the basic would be this forum minus a handful of topics.

Messaien though has a decent point--the hacking scene has expanded, and all help should not be asked for in this topic anymore. I'll consider making a TT64-only thread and trashing or locking this one.

I'd recommend locking the thread. Makes it easier to locate for any newbies who can quickly glance through to see if their problem is on here.

Is it possible to disable new topic option. Then if someone has a serious thread they could just PM a mod.

The table summary attribute should be used to describe
the table structure. It is very helpful for people using
non-visual browsers. The scope and headers attributes for
table cells are useful for specifying which headers apply
to each table cell, enabling non-visual browsers to provide
a meaningful context for each cell.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
