Hi. I am new here. and I have an Opinion of mine to share about the Virtual Console.

Virtual Console and Wii ware. Wii ware is cool and everything. however. I never thought it would Totally Blow Virtual console out of the water. for a while now. there has only been like 1 maybe 2 (if you're lucky) Virtual console games added a week. and I understand that Wii ware is new. but. I for one can't help but feel a little messed over. I mean. Virtual console is one of the top 3 reasons I bought the Nintendo Wii in the first place. Everybody wants to play those games that are now wrecking cartridges. and when they do release a Virtual console game, it's pretty lame. like a bunch of Master system games. which is fine to release some of them but. they really need to release some Super Nintendo games. if Nintendo wants some Money. they can finally release Earthbound. I don't care for it personally but others do. here are some games that really need to be released (in my opinion)

Star fox (SNES)

Yoshi's island (SNES)

Majora's mask (N64)

Castlevania Dracula X (SNES)

Smart ball (SNES)

ETC things like that.

and that's just to name a few. there are some really great games that I feel. aren't getting what they are worth. didn't you think that they would have jumped all over things like star fox or yoshi's island? I know I would have. im not trying to tell Nintendo what to do or shoving things down their mouths. but. That's what I think.

more importantly. I would like to hear your Opinion on this matter. this isn't a big deal. just a topic. thank you.

I don't buy anything off that channel anymore. I had to format my Wii a while ago because of a firmware problem. Before the format, it says that they recomend that you delete the Wii Shop Channel account before formating. I assume since my My Nintendo account is linked to it, I should retain all my stuff. I format, and re-link my account and I still have nothing. I call Nintendo and after talking from one person to another etc, I finally get a straight answer that since I deleted the Shop Channel Account, I lose all my stuff even though I can prove I once purchased it. This is according to the agrement you accept before you use Wiiconnect24 and the Shop Channel.

But quite this is my fault anyways so I'm not getting my stuff back but if Nintendo's online system as a whole wasn't a piece of shit this would be a problem. They need to come up with something as easy to use as the Xbox live system for their nextgen console while they retain the FREE part.

So I end up pirating all the ones I payed for.

I don't really care for VC much. I did buy SMB 1, but that was merely for hacking purposes. (My efforts were eventually claimed by another guy I guess... but whatever...) Anyway, what I DO love about it is that it does perfect FDS emulation. I bought SMB2J on it and LOVE it. It plays better than it does on any PC emulator.

Yeah. I have super Mario bros 1 as well. I really like Super Mario RPG.

Nintendo Wii could be a little better on their systems I must admit. and I agree with Teconmoon. it does play really well.

another thing I think could use a little more edge is their control's for games. frankly. they need to come up with some sweet ideas. I really want them to make this next star fox game a lot like Star fox 64. make the control's real well. have some neat levels. and. just flat out don't cheese with it you know? no dorky stuff. just a cool, fun and explosive game you can play when you feel in the mood for some star fox. anyway again. my opinion.

I also think they need better controllers. like a N64 controller. with the kind of control stick that the game cube has. nothing is better than the old Zelda 64 'Z targeting. that's fantastic!

Uh, those GameCube controller ports on top of the system aren't just for show, you know...

Yeah I know that. but I mean the Real N64 controller. the Real 'Z targeting when the 'Z button is on the bottom. the game cube Controller is alright and everything. but 'L targeting just isn't like 'Z targeting. doesn't have the same feel.

Having an N64-controller add-on would be nice, but the thing is that Nintendo's already did a bit with their whole LET'S MAKE EXTENSIONS LIKE IT'S FIREFOX campaign. On top of that, they deviate from the "next" generation when it's just "too risky" to make a change (see: Brawl, Mario Kart). Sure, the actual usage of the Wiimote's available--not taking the use motion-sensing into account--but there's always some sort of a copout included. To me, that's another way of saying "Here, we'll give you a new way to play this game, but just in case you're unwilling to change, here's the old crap!"

I'd like to see some more evolving and less "Nintendo has gone idle."

I guess it's also worth noting that I really couldn't care less about the VC now, since I'll most likely pirate the game or just use the actual cartridge.

Star fox (SNES)
Yoshi's island (SNES)
Majora's mask (N64)

I'd guess all three of those will be on VC in due time.

Castlevania Dracula X (SNES)

Erm... Rondo would be a better pick, no?

Smart ball (SNES)

Erm... ah... um...

Yes, I'm disappointed at the lack of really good Virtual Console games as of late. Games like Yoshi's Island and Majora's Mask really need to be released. I would understand Nintendo not releasing everything at once for marketing purposes or whatever, but wouldn't it make more sense to have good games available longer so they get more purchases? As for WiiWare, I've seen a few gems like Mega Man 9, but not a whole lot worth getting.

It would be great if they brought back the Nintendo 64 game Rayman 2 for Virtual Console. Trouble is, it used the memory card add-on iirc.

As far as the actual Wii games, I'm disappointed Nintendo hasn't really tried to create a new, first-party series yet. Remember how the Gamecube introduced the Pikmin and Animal Crossing series? We've just seen Wii Sports/Fit/Music/Play/etc, in addition to the big-name series like Mario and Zelda. Nintendo seems to no longer be willing to take risks. Even Star Fox and F-Zero, pretty big franchises, haven't seen new entries, probably because they're not games Grandma could play.

Yes.

From marginal hardware (and firmware) updates, to re-re-retreads of the same old franchises, to shovelware, to even the warning screens and disclaimers plastered all over their products, Nintendo is all about safety now.

And it's making them filthy rich.

Oh, god, the warning screens.

No other company does that for a reason. It's annoying as hell.

What's really great is when Nintendo games have another one when you start it up!

- Insert GBA game into DS
- DS warning that you can never turn off aside from reflashing
- Start GBA game
- GBA warning that will always appear

- Turn on Wii
- Wii warning that you can never turn off
- Start game
- Typical "wrist strap" warning, regardless if game uses motion controls or not
- Extra warning screens if a game uses anything remotely different from a simple Wiimote

And yeah, shovelware. IMAGINE BABIEZ

Or, my favorite, HORSEXZ. (Aparrently it was so bad they changed the Z in the next release)

lol sorry. I guess you just have to play games when you are young to agree. I played smart ball when I was like 6 or 7. so yeah. and as for Dracula X. Both would be fine by me.

DON'T FORGET

"GAME EXPERIENCE MAY CHANGE DURING ONLINE PLAY"

(changed to the slightly less stupid-sounding "online interactions not rated by the ESRB" in recent games)

Castlevania games for the DS are notorious for the number of (unskippable!) screens you have to sit through before you even see the title. Order of Ecclesia has, in no particular order:

- Licensed by Nintendo
- Konami
- ACTimagine video codec (who cares)
- Online interactions not rated by the ESRB
- Intro video (skippable, thankfully)

The warning screens don't bother me too much. Except for "Please make sure you have the wrist strap secure" crap, only because they make you press A to skip it, which sometimes doesn't register...

I liked Nintendo better before the casual gaming boom. Less shovelware, and more quality games.

I really like the Wii, and well, I used to be a dialup user (thank God I'm not anymore) and I developed an outstanding patience, so I'm really not bothered by the warning screens.

As for the VC, I can't wait to get:
Majora's Mask N64
Yoshi's Island SNES
Zombies Ate My Neighbors SNES
Mario Kart SNES

ah yeah, the warning screens are really the worst thing with the wii, and all recent nintendo consoles.

does sony annoy the users with 500 warning screens about "health and security" before allowing them to play? no. so why does nintendo need to do it? they think they've too many fanboys?

They do it because of the legions of casual gamers now. We hardcore gamers know this shit cold, but to the newcomers and parents and whatnot, they don't and parents are the ones more likely to sue if anything happens. As for the wrist strap warning screen stuff, anyone remember this? They're just trying to cover their asses after what happened before.

However, none of these reasons makes the screens any less annoying...

I'm sorry, but there is no way you could "accidentally" throw a Wiimote hard enough to break a CRT screen. Have you ever tried doing it? You have to really throw a rock pretty hard to do that kind of damage.

he's right, CRT screens are quite solid. breaking one with a wiimote would rather break the wiimote. i would agree about the link if the tv was a LCD.
