Maybe I should try a n00b distro like Kubuntu/Xubuntu.
I actually tried Debian for a while. It's still on that hard drive, barely touched in months. I have no idea how to get things installed, so once I get around to it, I'll install the newest version with all the drivers so I won't have to spend time popping ibuprofen from all the frustration.

Yeah, installing programs on Linux tends to get way too hard and complex
I'll be off to the the project meeting soon, without a working project. Some code is in place, but it fucks up.

And here I am, a person of about 120 IQ, and I have no idea how to install crap on Linux.

I don't remember ever having taken an IQ test. I'd estimate mine as around 110-120

My brother-in-law wanted me to be administered a couple of logic tests by him, use the results to find an estimated IQ, and then write a paper about it.
Thus, 120. Maybe 125, but I probably wasn't paying attention. Definitely in the 115 to 125 range. I even managed to solve a problem he, my half-sister, and her half-brother didn't get.

 | I actually dualboot three of my computers. Two of them with Windows XP / Ubuntu (the desktop almost always runs XP, while the netbook runs Ubuntu a bit more) and one with Windows 98 / Damn Small Linux, which almost exclusively sees DSL.
My laptop's a pure Vista machine. I don't get why everyone keeps having such shit luck with Vista... it's been better than XP for me.
e: sudo apt-get install appname.
Or if you have a deb file, you can usually double click it to install. Dependencies are usually taken care of.
In the case of compiling, usually ./recompile from what I've seen.

Yeah, I tried all of that, but I end up getting messages like "driver/library not found, please install and try again", then when I'm trying to install said driver or library, it happens again. Repeat ad nauseum.

 | Is it an older version of Debian?
I've had a lot of trouble with it myself - I ended up just sticking with Ubuntu.

I might stay up for 24 hours. It's not like I work tomorrow.

I named my Onix that I keep around Anya. Don't know why.
