so funny that you're getting tired of 1024x768, i actually just ordered a 15" Eizo FlexScan that was 1024x768. but i'm going to use it as my second monitor. sadly a lot of websites these days treat anything 1024px wide as a phone..

yeah i get it, i have an 1280x1024 display because 1024x768 alone is too small, especially if i'm using it for the web (because of the aforementioned reasons).

but the two laptops i use the most right now are 10.1" and 12.1", both 1024x768. it gets a bit cramped sometimes. i used to have a 14.1" 1400x1050 but it died suddenly..

anyway i'm hoping soon i can get an actually modern new laptop, now that Panasonic is making a 14" 3:2 laptop. i still like 4:3 more, but i think i'll like this one just fine.

Framework also does 3:2, and you get to pick what parts go in there! You could get a really good deal if you use refurb parts rather than the parts they sell you. However, it is 13.5", so that might be a bit on the small side...

it's the Panasonic Let's Note CF-FV1, it's a japan-only model from 2021—so it's quite new.

out of panasonic's line-up, i currently have the CF-R9, the CF-T8 and CF-Y7 (recently broken, sadly). those are all from the 2000s. but i've owned the CF-RZ5 and CF-SZ5, which i didn't like as much. i'm a huge fan of their laptops, even though people here seemed to have recoiled at their circular touchpads when i mentioned them in the past.

i'm really partial to panasonic's products and a lot of their design quirks

I'm actually thinking of getting a small monitor just to permanently display Obsidian (a note-taking app) with my daily note (where I store my tasks/todos and thoughts throughout the day). I haven't yet put any thought into how big I would actually want it to be (but definitely smaller than 13") nor what the resolution should be... Also, maybe something like an old tablet could be repurposed for the purpose, so I don't have to buy anything new.

my 15" monitor just arrived and i was originally going to use it as a reference screen, but i ended up liking it so much that i made my 19" monitor into my secondary/reference and my 15" into my primary

they do make some small screens, i'm sure you could just get the cheapest and smallest one and it'd work fine. but the tablet is indeed another option

perhaps PM would exist in contrast to a public message (such as a message in a thread on a forum)

on the other hand, Instagram and Twitter have DMs because content is shared sporadically, not targeted towards any particular person. so i imagine a DM got the name because it contrasts this method of communication.

but anyway now forums are used less, so the distinction is collapsing
