my Panasonic Let's Note CF-Y7 mysteriously broke the other day after a BSOD and the BIOS stopped loading. i ended up using my CF-T8 again, reluctantly at first. but then over time i realised just how much i like this device. it's a lot more robust than that device too, so i can surf basic websites, do some chatting and other things with it. not that i need to do very much more anyway. i keep things simple.

It really is amazing how infrequently you actually need to update for stuff you use laptops for. Glad you're having a good experience with your older machine!

My oldest sibling wants to take me drinking when I turn 21. I don't want to drink, it just doesn't appeal to me, and I have a family history of alcoholism. I don't even like them that much anyway, they're fairly conservative but not even.vaguely principled, just in the performative way you see nowadays. I'm afraid of coming out to them, as well.
And yet, my family has whittled me to the point I'm having a dilemma over going or not going because I dom't really want to rob anyone of experiences they want to have, either, and we (how America-centric of me) just arbitrarily decided that you're pretty much obligated to drink on your 21st birthday. My mom actually said once I should be happy to have such a controlling mother. I don't feel so happy about it, now I'm having a moral dilemma over something that I rationally know I should refuse just because I was trained to have an instinctual need to please other people or else face their anger.

Over here, the legal limit is 18. A lot of my classmates started drinking already before that; I only started drinking alcohol when I was 22 because I thought I was being too principled and needed to let go of myself a bit. Well, it was sometimes fun, but in the end I got sick one too many times, and found out there are better and safer substances, so four years later I've decided I'm done with alcohol. It's fine to try it but I would say avoiding its use is rational — any amount of alcohol consumption is known to be harmful to the brain.

In general good advice is don't let anybody talk you into drug use. That's called peer pressure and you're going to have a bad time if you go through with it. Your parents and family should respect your opinion, don't forget to remind them you're an adult and can make decisions for yourself.

there's doing what makes you happy, and doing what makes others happy. you'll have to choose one

though, the best people to have in life are the ones who will be happy if you're happy

I got drunk on my 21st.

Basically drove the point home that I never would get drunk again. Been 16 years since.

I'll drink very occasionally but it would be a light amount, to say the least.

Yea I had 200 bucks, the clothes on my back, got kicked from one state to the other and it was a mixed bag. You get to learn about life real quick when you basically have no one who cares and you're just getting money to survive.

Wouldn't wish it on anyone. I would wish people find their way out of toxic situations however best they can, however.

my physical self esteem comes in waves, sometimes i feel gross for a period of time. a minute ago i was looking in the mirror and was like... woah! i have a crush on myself. it varies wildly, but on an upwards trend ever since i started taking care of myself, dressing better, and altering my hormone levels. fun!!! i remember when i started wanting to be a girl seven to eight years ago i was totally caught up with wanting to look like someone that was already a girl. now? i feel pretty normal. i'm a special kind of girl
