It may also just be your diet having acclimated to other things, especially if you haven't had any in a long time.

Seconding this not recommendation. I had one for close to a year, definitely not ideal. Maybe with a better mattress?

@sofi: isn't adulting great? I find more and more I enjoy hydration over sweetness, though I still have a weakness for burgers. Ice cream is a no go, after I saw what happens to store-bought stuff after it "melts" (it doesn't melt, the oil just comes out of it. )

Now hold on. I slept on a convertible futon in couch mode for about 5 years and it is still the most comfortable sleep-years I ever had...

But yes, it's generally bad.

are we talking about beds?

i currently sleep on a thick memory foam bed atop one of these lovely space-savers:

i have used this since maybe 2014, so it's been part of my life for a while. i live in an apartment with high ceilings so it's not too bad.

in fact, it's cozy. i can have people hang out w/ me in my room & we can do so w/o sitting on a bed. beneath my loft is a lounge area w/ a large TV + a sofa.

simply in love w/ this set-up.

I live in a Studio apartment, so I have a large sectional on one wall that has space between the couch and chaise portions for a Queen air mattress to fit perfectly. It's kind of a cool setup for one person, or a couple. People give me shit for the air mattress, but I like to be able to move it when company is coming over.

The air mattress isn't bad, I've slept on those for a while, but they're no fun when they start leaking

That looks pretty comfy, I'm jealous of the couch. Ours kind of sucks; it's one of those plain straight ones with arm rests, but it's not quite wide enough to support 3 people comfortably (or lay down on, for that matter)

Don't I know it. I've had to buy like...6 in the past year? Yeah, I could have easily bought an actual mattress for that, but portability. I ponied up and got this one, and it's been pretty great so far. I really like the height of it because it comes up to just higher than the couch, so throwing some blankets down on the couch turns the whole thing into a an uber couch cuddle pit

$100 is about the price I paid for the bed I used for a while (though it's $80 now). And it lasted a few years, even if it was kind of awful by the end of it.

It was also a twin size. Having originally only slept on queen size beds before, it was a little cramped But alas, the sacrifices we make when we move out.

I've been worried about something recently, well, in actuality a few things are bothering me but I'll just talk about this one. There's a specific game I have on my Steam library that I bought about 9 months ago and never played, and it feels weird to me that I never played it all this time. It's Undertale.

This isn't because of a lack of time, since I beat VVVVVV twice a little while ago, and also played through a lot more games (specially Mario Party, which I'll probably need a break from to be honest). I also have heard people praise this game a ton before, so of course I was interested in playing it...but I never found myself actually taking the time to play it. I feel almost burned out and tired of it to be honest. It's everywhere and everyone has talked about it.

I need to find some motivation to play it sometime, because this situation feels way too weird to me.

confession: same.

except, i did something more egregious—i bought the game, played it about halfway & then never finished.

i'll laugh at Undertale references + such ("lol i also love sans") but something was just stopping me from finishing that game.

it's like how i:
  • stopped playing Tales of Phantasia or Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story right before the last boss, or

  • started season 2 of Orange Is the New Black & then got up & walked away never to look at/think about it again, or

  • got to the part of Infinite Jest that was supposed to be the start of it getting easy & then just put it down

  • still have yet to finish Earthbound, even though i tell people it's my favorite game of all time b/c it is just such a conceptually cool entity, something which Itoi much more summoned than wrote

  • am still working on the first Moomin book, lol

& i hate to say this, but i think i'll finish Infinite Jest before i finish Undertale, b/c i have a commitment to finish that as well as Earthbound, but i'm pretty sure i can go the rest of my life w/o knowing what happens in Undertale at all.

things i'll finishthings i won't finish
Earthbound, Infinite Jest, Comet in Moominland, Kafka on the Shore, Twin PeaksOrange Is the New Black, Tales of Phantasia, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Undertale, Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Moby Dick

I really enjoyed Undertale, but I wouldn't have played it if I hadn't had a day where I needed to stay home while some tradies did some work. It's just so hard to find the time to so things, and there's so much out there competing for my leisure time too. But I'm glad I played it. I played through a pacifist run and I got a bit teary at the end.

There's still so much other stuff though that I'd like to dedicate some time to, watch, play, read, listen to… can't do it all!

I wonder if I'll ever get around playing Undertale. There's so much I want to play, so much I want to read or see, that I've just resigned. And I know I've written about it before, but the situation hasn't changed yet and I wonder if it will. It's not just from lack of time. I have no will, I just prefer to be doing other things (and I'm fairly happy).

I adore Undertale. I recently watched a let's play of it, and even years later, it was a wonderful experience. I was quite surprised to see just how many little things I missed when I played it too.

With that said, I understand if other people don't like it or are wary of it due to how popular it was. If it seems like your kind of thing, though, then I highly recommend it.

Anyway, I have, um, quite a collection of games and books that I intend to finish some day. I suspect that collection will only get larger with time, though. With video games especially, I have a habit of playing new games for a little while before abandoning them and just replaying the same old games I've already completed before.

Like everyone else, though, I have other things to occupy my time, so perhaps it's for the best.

Is this the Undertale thread, now?

I played it when it came out, immediately, and finished it in one setting. I stayed up way too late to do it and hurt my eyes, but at the time there weren't spoilers everywhere either; nobody else had played it yet.

It's a fairly short game, so it can be done in the scope of a few hours.

Speaking of, I tried playing Undertale at one point, but I kinda stopped for some reason. Given that I'm essentially going on a disability-type leave, hopefully I can work on playing through these games in my spare time when I'm not overly panicked.
