I need to stop looking at Twitter for too long. Too much political news crap and it's making me feel awful every other day, which I don't need at all. |

There's always Mastodon, where at least most people have been generous enough to put the really dumb political shit behind spoiler tags. |

Sadly I'm tied to twitter, since for a lot of friends it's my most reliable means of contact. Those sorts of platforms are really beginning to exhaust me though, especially when I see the same thing being circulated for the third pass, or some breathless news-item-that-isn't. I don't know why people are so happy to give the older mediums that were really about -talking- up, but I've got to deal with it, I guess. |

I'm so used to being in the middle of projects (that I've been putting off...) now that I'm done I still have the feeling that I should be doing something. ![]() |

I don't usually see a lot of political news on my Twitter feed, that said I follow like not even 50 people I think and I also check it every month or so, so maybe I shouldn't be saying anything.
About the disk space management issues, I only have one HDD in this computer so if it fails it's complete game over (yes, I am aware how dangerous this is, I can't do much about it). Even so I still have like 400GB of free space (out of 600GB total). I used to do backups, but the computer started accumulating too much data for me to keep burning on DVDs and I don't really have any other place to put that much data in. That's one of the few dozen issues I need to figure out about this computer. I'm not complaining all that much though, it still functions well, I just need to find the time to adjust it a bit. I never really understood duplicate files, is it a common issue for everyone else? Like, do you accidentally leave behind duplicates when copying stuff without realizing it? Or does the computer somehow have duplicate files stored somewhere that needs to be cleaned periodically? @Sponty: I have a few projects I should be doing as well, but I guess other things about my life are taking up the time that I had for it. When was the last time I even did anything TCRF-related again? Maybe it hasn't been as long as I think, but I really should be doing something about it. |

Honestly I can't say that I haven't been one of those people on Facebook who posts political shit, but when things are as bad as they are and you sort of low-key hope that any post will magically change someone because then you can actually feel as though you've changed the world for the better in some tiny way... ![]() ...and when your one source of contact with family is through Facebook... (Though I've recently found Simpsons Shitposting and it has mostly given me life on that damned website) |

When moving into this house, we basically had to get rid of our old, busted-up couch, so we had been using a fold-up futon as our main living room furniture. Now, 7 months later, we finally have an actual couch again. It feels like a whole new world. |

I had to sleep on a convertible futon for several months back in the early '00s. Would not recommend.
Even for a while, the only couch we had here was BMF's shitty, old one, and it was falling apart. We finally got a slightly less shitty, not at all falling apart one from some place for dirt cheap and while it's still not amazing, it's a lot better to sit on. |

On politics:
Politics above all, absolutely infuriate/annoy me. But, I can't help being dragged into them. I also perfectly understand the "but things are such a shithole right now!" logic. I am very much guilty of it, although a part of me is entirely pessimistic about my efforts. I've been called things like a "hippie" (especially one who doesn't understand econ) for my stance on corporations and capitalism. (oh, and these insults are likewise directed towards the econ teachers I (or others) have had). Whatever I may be, how people , or should i say, sheeple are blind enough to not see the evil in this shit is just beyond me. Then again, I was once one of them, and parts of that programming does remain... particularly in regards to consumerism. It's just sad. On news: My mm thinks one is stupid not to watch it. Watching the news does things to me. Firstly, I can pick-out easy the "same shit, different day" stuff, and the obvious bias towards any one side. (despite those saying they're unbiased...PLEASE...) Besides that, I'm real tired of "So, another completely preventable massacre happened today" or "Government still insists they need to spy" or "In light of recent events, we should ban violent video games and movies, and strengthen useless policies like Patriot Act and COPPA", etc... News is primarily doom and gloom. Every once in a while, something comes-up that's remotely interesting. The rest, I don't give a shit about, and I'd much prefer to not hear about. I also know I'm not getting the full story, but... hardly anyone believes me when I say the news is lying or not explaining everything to us. Oh, and another personal favorite: "this happened, we need laws to deal with it", and said issue by all technical definitions already SHOULD be illegal under some law, and it absolutely IS immoral and unethical. |

today after eating pizza, i went to the ice cream shop w/ a friend.
i wasn’t planning on getting anything b/c i didn’t want any more dairy but my friend convinced me to try the Thai Iced Tea Coconut Milk Ice Cream due to its lack of dairy. i tried it but then felt compelled to get something anyway, b/c it’d be bad if i got a sample & didn't get ice cream. so i ate this ice cream. but halfway through, i started feeling bad. at first i wasn’t sure why, but then i thought perhaps i’ve lost my taste for sweets. perhaps i’m aging out of it, i said. it just wasn't good to me anymore. an overpowering, unpleasant sensation. i thought about how awful i’d feel the next morning & how, really, the only thing that sounded good to me was a nice glass of water. i thought about how i reached the point in my life i never thought i’d reach: the point at which i prefer salads to burgers, water to soda, nothing to ice cream. i get it now. |

I find more and more I enjoy hydration over sweetness, though I still have a weakness for burgers.
