What? Are you in San Francisco or so-

Why do they call it applesauce?

It's more like puree than a sauce.

What gives?

New hard drive installed, now I've got ~3tb of storage to fill up instead of just over 1. Yay?

Who cares? It's good.

New hard drive

I need to get on one of those myself, or maybe a new SSD or something.

Worth the purchase so far, besides the extra space it's nice to be able to consolidate 3 project folders/Steam libraries/etc (across three different drives) into one.

I'm not too pressed for space:

I could probably free up a bunch if I cared.

Hard disk on here is ~1GB / 30GB free...

And something is broken, so I can't offload any to my external...

SSDs are great, while my space management isn't.

Aether: SSD for OS and important programs
Phazon Mines: Recovery partition that I don't actually want, but whatever, it won't kill me to have it
SpaceNoxx: My games dev drive, containing various versions of Unreal and Unity. Also the drive that breaks the naming convention.
Sanctuary Fortress: Data drive, and it has the perfect name for it. Other programs and files.
Phendrana: The games drive. Mostly Steam.

Also a DVD drive that Windows couldn't previously find has somehow appeared there, so I guess that works now, maybe?

There's a couple utilities that help you find duplicates and huge files. I don't remember what I used to clean up a bunch of dupes, but TreeSize has saved my ass countless times.

(Speaking of which, maybe it's time to do another backup... maybe if I could find utilities to wipe older duplicates of files, so I could just have the files that have changed since the last backup, I might be a bit better about it.)

I still use WinDirStat which is way older but does the job.

As for the rest of you, I don't understand how you can consume that much space

You can remove the drive letter in Disk Management which hides the partition, which I did with mine, but whether or not it causes problems in a recovery situation I'm not sure.

I've been using DupeGuru for a while (or rather, the last version compiled for Windows, which is from 2015).

Works wonders.
