Trying to figure out what I should be doing for work right now. Probably just look up things since we just launched three new projects just last week at the same time and we're sort of in a lull at the moment before more projects start up.

Got a new phone! Again! Dad traded his phone for a Lumia 930. However, the 930 was an O2 phone, and O2 refused to unlock it so he could use his EE SIM. Since my 735 is on contract, I can unlock it straight away. So, now he has my 735 and I've got the 930! Aren't I a jammy bugger.

I find it somewhat funny how I always wanted a phone for me, and when I got one I haven't really used it unless it was necessary.

The fact that the phone is one of those horrible Samsung touchscreens from 2011 with insane amounts of lag does not help. Had I received something more powerful... that could have been different.

I just finished the first version of my album, very happy with myself at the moment. Although it's not completely finished before sending to a label (needs final mixing since it's always good to go back after a while and see what you can fix and other finished parts from a few other artists that are featuring on a couple of tracks), I feel happy knowing that I actually got somewhere with it in about a year.

related side note, god bless spring break!

I wonder if people would mind a mini-revival of JCS of sorts, but with monthly rankings, as opposed to daily?
For example, on the 1st of May, a thread would be posted about April statistics. To make it less competitive, though I don't think there's much risk, we could do other stuff like list interesting threads or developments. Maybe people could even summarize how the month went for them.
I think the monthly threads could be a neat way to spark some discussion.

That could be nice, maybe if there was a way to automatically post it every month then it would be even better. I also agree that this might make some more discussion happen, but wouldn't it require changing how the JCS page works?

_my brother bought a $800 dollar audio interface that comes with a copy of protools (blurry ass pic) but realized that his macbook doesn't have firewire ports and apple's thunderbolt to firewire thingy didn't work for him

so now he's letting me basically have it in exchange of providing him recording sessions which I do not mind at all, I ordered a firewire PCI card so I should be able to start usin it soon

On the other hand, Pro Tools is real awesome, but I will say one thing, iLok is complete garbage and I wish for no one to actually have to go through it one day. Why someone thought having a generic $50 dollar USB stick that apparently 'holds' your licenses which means you have to have it plugged in would stop piracy, I don't know. Having 3 active 'machines' on a single account wasn't enough, you had to make it hardware based. ahhhhhhhh

_Double post

Just got my Firewire PCI card today, so far everything including my interface is working very well, but one thing I do know is that I really, really hate Bytecc. The drivers disc is probably the saddest excuse to a 'drivers' disc ever, it was just a bunch of redistributes of software far unrelated to the product they shipped. A good amount of the disc was actually corrupt or something, extracting the data would cause Windows to stall consistently.

Why DirectX was included among some other garbage for a firewire pci card is dumb. why they even shipped a drivers disc for a plug and play device is ridiculous. Because this, I'll be keeping a close eye for any hardware failures. (will post pix in da desktop thingy)

KLayout v3.1
I attempted to remove GWX (the Get Windows 10 thing which would consume bandwidth, HD space, and eventually break the two "big" programs I use, that is VPC 2007 and VMWare Workstation) with Hiren's Boot CD by booting MiniXP and deleting every file related to GWX (they have similar creation dates), then doing something similar to the registry... and now Windows 7 can't boot because of BadPatch. The kicker is that with the four restore points, the first two require GWX (?!), and the last two don't work at all.

It's like 2008 all over again, when the manual removal of Norton Antivirus 2004 did not go well at all.

Unlike that year, I do have a LiveCD and good external HD, so I can backup everything important to the external HD before restoring to factory defaults. Also, the full backup of the second partition I made some time ago can be finally put to a good use.

So, it's like nothing has happened. (And this is a way to test the PC Decrapifier, which should remove bundled software).

I have lost any words with this

The kicker? That is the first time I've visited the website. (The other tab is a wayback machine page after I was IP banned for some reason).

What's worse than that? This, that proves that who coded the system is an absolute moron.

---

And with this that brings the number of times I've been IP banned to 1. Horray? :|

Seriously, this is the dumbest thing I've heard for quite a while. The fact that the person who made ZB block thinks this is acceptable is even more funny. Like seriously, think about it: What if someone decided to ban all people who use Internet Explorer 6 just because it is old and there's a theory it doesn't even work anymore and all people who use it are all spambots and blah blah blah, zaphod is too lazy to do the research because , blah blah blah.

Tune in next time on the show of supreme stupidity where we see zaphod (apperently the creator of ZB Block) trying to create a lawsuit to arrest people that play a Atari in 2015 just because it is old! :specialed:

Before you ask, I have read zaphod's official explanation to this issue. Here it is:

It means that there are no windows 95 machines that can access the net anymore since they went to random port DNS. This was done to stop domain spoofing/dns server stuffing.

Microsoft never updated the Windows 95 TCP/IP stack to handle random port DNS, thus, any machine identing itself with that string, is actually a bot with a B.S. User agent.

[...]

This is my vendetta against those who spammed, and hacked me.
There's a reason 95 is blocked, and 98 is not. It's actually a very pure reason...

When DNS was updated to prevent the Kaminsky Vulnerability, Windows 98 and up were updated to the new protocol. Windows 95's TCPIP stack was not updated...

Thus anything announcing as Windows 95, is patently false.
So basically, if a user ever identifies themselves as using Windows 95, they deserve to be IP banned. This doesn't even consider the fact that many, many people that use Windows 95 still can connect to the internet. Again, please do your research developers, it's not that difficult.

One thing you can notice in the screenshot, is that I have the User Agent Switcher.

Guess what happens if I visit one of those websites with this config. It certainly means that I'm a bot and not someone who changed their User Agent for another reason without knowing the consequenes of "forgetting" that.

Scratch that, I have many VMs, including Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51 and Wfw 3.11, and they can all connect to the internet properly. I doubt they ban Windows for Workgroups 3.11 users, but yeesh, I have to try.

This also means, that if you ever try to connect to one of those websites with a Windows 95 VM, it's an automatic game over for the whole IP. I'll probably never be able to connect to one of those anyway, since my IP would be flagged as "Spammer Tolerant Host Network". As I said yesterday on IRC:

<Schezo> good design

EDIT:

AND AGAIN

IP Banning: Now with discrimination between IE versions. They may not ban IE6 users, but they do ban IE5 users.

A certain disk put the floppy drive out of alignment on the Windows 98 computer.
Boo hoo, at least I almost never use those anyway. There is enough RAM (almost 490 MB) to run MiniXP and its programs properly.

Due to this, I'll leave the drive as-is, even though I already have a spare floppy drive.
