I am definitely in need of a vacation and I have only been running the shop alone most of the time for maybe four weeks. I am such a loser.

I have tons of work to do, assignments coming out my nose, a major exam next weekend, and still have to pack for a trip this weekend, and so what does my brain think?

"Hey, maybe I should redesign my post layout!"

...You know, I was following this EXACT line of thought. I'm not even joking.

Oh my wonderful female friend (who I admittedly still have a crush on), don't threaten me or call me an asshole. Your sister in law happens to be very into pairing the two of us off, and I wouldn't want to let her know who you called after your emotional goodbye to your grandfather.. though it would be fun to watch you squirm.

I don't bother understanding it. I just have way too much fun messing with her.

One thing I love about recent Opera versions...

sometimes when I close it, it suddenly decides to crash out of nowhere even though it's already closed

then the "Opera has crashed" dialog pops up

then that dialog crashes itself (haha)

and when I start up Opera everything is normal

I wonder what's causing it...?

Are Holiday Oreos out yet?

Because... you know... it's after Christmas. Christmas candy's out for the next two months now. And I need my Oreo fix.

I... wasn't even aware of Holiday Oreos.

The most recent I've seen them were some "Neopolitan" ones, with "chocolate" and "strawberry" icing. They were... okay, although I didn't eat more than one because I'm not that big on the things anymore.

Holiday Oreos are the ones with mint, right? Those are among the best things...

Not one, but two explosions of girl drama in one night. Thankfully I was not involved in either of them.
EDIT: well this is just travelling into WHAT THE FUCK territory here. ._.

As proof of how crazy I am, I am totally happy to have received a gigantic Excel table which lists all 10,000+ analog TV transmitters in Germany. Working through everything should satisfy me for a few weeks, I think.

Is it me, or does this just sound ridiculously funny when filtered?

Oh man, do tell what's going on.

By the way, look who I have!

Just.. my friend's family.. what. the. fuck.
Um. Okay. I'll try and recap.
Their grandpa passed away, the funeral was today, very emotional and all that. The mother doesn't get along with one of her sister's, and it's just dysfunction, dysfunction everywhere.
My friend's brother is newly married, he's a down-to-earth enough guy, calm and collected.
My friend has a way of saying comments that are out of hand, and kind of rude.
My friend's new sister-in-law tends to blow things out of proportion and take offense.
It was already an emotional situation.
My friend's brother is going to take the side of his wife, naturally.
Basically.
My friend said some comment, the wife freaked out, the brother smacked my friend, my friend said "go fuck yourself" and my mother and I decided it was time we left, now that the wife is crying in one room, my friend's in the basement, and it's chaos.
So I get home, and find out that the brother apparently tried to strangle? my friend, who walked out of the house, just left.

Um. What the fuck is going on here, guys.
My head hurts. I understand why people turn to alcohol in these situations. And I still have another day here. Yay..~

EDIT: Oh right, didn't mention my friend's sister is the girl I'm crushing on. Weeeee..~ She wasn't involved, but yeah, is that really a family I want to involve myself more in?

._. It's the next morning and I still don't know exactly what happened.

My body has to pick tonight of all nights to start acting weird and being tired too early to the point where I could actually fall asleep.

Oh boy.

Woo! No power in part of the house this morning! And of course it's the part that powers our router.

2018 edit: this post is now renounced

I was reading about rice today and how white rice is bad for you and you shouldn't be eating it in like super-gigantic heaps because when it comes to white rice, we're talking pure white rice, man. White rice, the staple of an authentic Chinese diet, is this refined grain with the nutrition and fiber and all those cool things removed in the milling process and the cool thing to eat now is brown rice, which has all those things in tact.

But then I heard about quinoa.

Call me an Asian culture-jammer, but I'm more than happy to leave my roots behind for some goosefoot roots—well, seeds, actually. Quinoa isn't a grain—it's actually a seed that acts like a grain so they call it a "pseudograin". It's been around for several thousand years, popular with the Incas who loved to eat it but were forced to start growing wheat instead because quinoa was "barbarian food". Today it's a prize (pseudo)grain health aficionados are hip to, its complete protein contents providing for some needed nutrition for all those vegans out there.

All that stuff is real good but nothing is sweeter than the feeling that I'm simultaneously updating and rebelling against my parents' culture, replacing the symbol of their country's cuisine with better, healthier Inca "barbarian" alternatives. Adapting my family to brown rice was a struggle, but in the end the unrefined won. And now it's that time again, but with quinoa.

Move over, brown rice. I'll be having quinoa with my venison teriyaki this super-fusion Thanksgiving.

I've been up for literally 15 hours now, completely fueled on coffee.

I can't wait to ultimately crash!
