Type in l is real all in lower case (Though I typed in L is real and it worked), with spaces. Have you selected the "L is real" texture (the star statue plate texture)? You have to type "l is real" in the Mario size box, you need to replace the value. Once you have typed it in, press enter. When you press enter, make sure the insertion point is in the Mario size box.

Once it worked, you will see the little Mario's on the sides of the Mario size box change to Luigi's, and the Mario M texture will change to an L. About the size box growing, I don't remember that happening.

Make sure you're using the most recent version of Toad's Tool, the box will just grow if its an old version.

Previous versions of TT64 didn't support using Enter in the size field, I added that feature at the same time as the Luigi easter egg. So that's a sure sign that 2nd Hero was not using the latest version.

Awesome took me a while to find it out though. If someone still needs help I can give another clue. Is that okay?

You have to use v0.5.99b not v0.5.98b.

This should work:

1 - Enable Luigi in a clean extended ROM.
2 - Create a PPF patch using the ROM with Luigi as the original file and a clean rom as your "patched" file.
3 - Apply the patch in your ROM with Luigi and Mario should be back.

Help on creating/applying patches can be found at other threads.

Thanks for the suggestion; but creating the clean extended rom to do the 1st step, the rom extender replaced the rom i was working to so i have to create it anew.

I was just playing super mario 64 ds and was wondering, could you incorporate a Luigi Hat item that morphs you into luigi when you pick it up? Also, having his backflip jump replaced with the spinning arms thing that results from jumping on a fly guy.

Messiaen tryed doing a in game swap, but the result was bad. The game crashed because Mario/Luigi has a massive data bank that the emulator cannot handle.

Ahh I see. But what about the spinning jump? And also it would be cool if the jump height and mario's speed could be increased so it's more like luigi.

There is gameshark codes for all those things.
If you want to, you can apply them to the ROM yourself.
If you do not know how, I suggest searching for yoshielectron's tutorial on how to do it. (on YouTube)

People already reveiled the trick a few posts back. We already know to type L Is Real.
