Thanks to RDX, I'm done with the custom music, there is even an original song composed by me (I showed an early version of it in the first pages of this thread, but it has been expanded and improved).

Along with the release package, I will include Cellar Dweller's "alternate" ROM extender, so that Linux folks can play it too plus all the "source code" for the hacks used in the game. I'm sure some snippets will be useful for future hackers.

Also, I have a question. I'll upload a YouTube video with a tutorial on how to extend, patch the ROM and set up the extension pak memory on Project 64 and I'm wondering what can I do to ensure my video will be available as high definition? The normal Upload Video feature doesn't seem to have a checkbox for it.

Good news!
Unfortunately, the HD option is only available to US citizens, but that will be widened in the future.

Some months ago I tried uploading a sort of tutorial video but YouTube compression made it almost impossible to watch .

I have sony vegas, which can render widescreen HD videos. Just send me the recordings, and I'll do the editing, and send it back to you for upload.

I haven't recorded the video yet, but maybe the problem is with encoding. After the capture, I use VirtualDub to compress the video with the DivX codec. The quality is ok, but once its uploaded it gets much worse, perhaps I should send the video uncompressed and it will retain more of its resolution? All I want to avoid is a blurry video.

Yeah, send it uncompressed to me, then I'll edit it however you want me to, render it in HD, then send it back.

The YouTube manual recommends using a resolution of 640x480 for HQ videos, unless you upload a video using the HD option.

After failing to put my Metroid Cubed video in HD on Youtube, I did some research.

To get it in HD you should upload a file in .h264 format (in an .h264 container, not a DIVX container) with a resolution of 1280x720 and a minimum bitrate of 1000kbit/sec. So in the case of an N64 video, you'll have to add black bars on the side to keep the original 4:3 aspect ratio.

If you want to make some tests, I recommend setting the video to Private first when uploading, then make it public if you're satisfied with the results.

Thanks, YouTube documentation is sort of obscure in this issue, I guess they are still very concerned with space/bandwidth consumption. My upload rate is sort of slow, but I'll try to do some tests and see if I can get something at least decent by changing my encoding settings.

My original idea was to release it along a tutorial video, but since that may take some time I'll probably release before it (at least on this forum).

Youtube is bad on how they do that. It's good to hear that you are about ready to release it.

Have you got the hack/video uploaded yet, or are you trying to get it uploaded?

Heh, only a few minutes later and I've already found two very minor bugs. Probably a 1.1 version might be coming the new few days .

It hates me.

I give PJ64 More memory and everytime I try to play I get Inflinate memory error codes. Also, 1964 Kicks me off at the title screen.

It looks like this:

What did I do wrong?
