Wasn't approval part of the admin panel at some point? I swear I put someone on it when I was admining Imajin's forum back in the day.

AcmlmBoards have admin panels?

I don't think they were ever standard. It was probably just an addition to the board you were working with.

Whatever, you know what I meant. I don't know the terms Acmlmboards use exactly.

Did you guys know I got Imajin's first name once by looking at the password database for his forum? :J And then he denied it and told me it was just a name he liked! It was really funny.

Yes.

He doesn't anymore, though, because his AIM got hacked by his classmates once because of it. One of the great stories you hear from hanging out with him in person. :J

When I was 12 I made my first account in some place and the password was a few letters and a number about 10-15 digits long that I forced myself to remember.

I no longer remember that particular password, I don't even remember what the site was, it's been so long.

Hey, my first password was....................................sanky.

It was quickly hijacked and I got something much better, which I kept using until like a year ago. It's pretty good for a password by a nine year old, not being a dictionary word and having numbers. It was just 7 characters, though.

At the time, I wasn't intending to give my real name out to anyone online anyway, so it seemed safe enough... of course, then it turned out people IRL used AIM...

My early passwords were often just ordinary English words spelled backward. I guess that was "secure" to the 14-year-old me.

Later, I'd come up with at least slightly better passwords (along the lines of 2gzlop or 1389743), but I'd recycle them a lot.

Now, my passwords are typically gibberish and I never use the same one in two places.

didn't acmlm or someone once use "a" as their password

then again, deppending on context, that could be more secure than say, any birthdate

I guess you could have a fairly safe password if you have access to the database and give yourself a password shorter than the one demanded for on the registration page. Nobody would guess fewer characters if they know that the form explicitly demands a minimum.

I usually just used passwords generated for me or Finnish phrases with a number added.

Generally I use phrases from a TV show, maybe throwing a couple numbers in at the same time.

Honestly, my modern passwords aren't that secure either... but a lot better than "daniel", at least.

Girly told me this forum was up again and have been for a long time! :O

I know it was closed down ages ago around the time bitmap left, but no one ever told me it went up again.

Well, it may only be a few lines of PHP that can be done in a few minutes in theory, but in practice...

How often does a legitimate new thread ever get made in that forum, anyway? Even by people who have been here for months...

A legitimate one? Maybe once every 3 months.

Plenty of bad ones made in-between, though.

Also, this place wasn't closed down that I know. Bitmap leaving just made it inactive.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was briefly restricted to power level 1 and up at some point.

The reasons for it and the time it took place are details I'm not entirely clear on, though.
