| Dragon Ball is hit or miss to me. Liked Resurrection F, and the game Advanced Adventure. My lasting favorite happens to be the original Pokemon. While riddled with flaws, I was there in 1999 to treasure it for what it is. Actually, despite similarly obvious fondness for Lum, I didn't discover Urusei Yatsura until some ten years after Pokemon. |

| im finally watching panty & stocking cuz my gf is making me and its actually good and im surprised how much i like it. its funny and pretty and the art's fucking good and the music actually rules so many western shows make thinly veiled politically charged racist/homophobic/transphobic statements and act like it's transgressive and mock people who are offended and yet panty & stocking is legit transgressive and frequently very gross and uncomfortable but buuut it never stoops to that level anyway i think with this ive basically resigned myself to the fact that ill never consistently watch an anime again unless someone makes me lol |

i have finished "the panties & stockings cartoon show". it was excellent and funny and cool as fuck and i adored it and it just kept growing on me and growing on me and i think it's one of my favorite anime ever now, so oops. certainly has my favorite music of any anime ever made (fucken take that cowboy bebop). and now i get to wait for season 2, which is probably happening around the same time as nichijou season 2 (i.e. never)
now that i'm done watching an old anime that no one cares about anymore i get to watch a couple others that no one cares about anymore: - mob psycho 100 is my first introduction to a thing by ONE and hey it's good. shounen's usually boring as shit to me but this show is fun and funny. plus cool-as-shit aesthetics. probably i'll watch one punch man at some point too maybe - space patrol luluco is cute and kind of fun. really aesthetically good. it's trigger so ofc (after loving PSG so much i'm prolly just gonna go back and watch every good GAINAX/TRIGGER thing that exists -- the only reason i'm not jumping straight into kill la kill or gurren lagann is cuz my gf wanted to watch toradora! with me so i settled for a shortform thing for now) - toradora! did not impress me at first but the characters are slowly working their way into my heart and i'm starting to like them more ____________________ |

| I've been watching Zeta Gundam off and on. Old-school mecha is nice. Still on the assumption manga discussion's germane, I've read a bunch of Shimanami Tasogare over the past couple days. It's essentially about a gay high-school student in the aforementioned Japanese coastal town -- more to it than that, but hard to make sound natural. Very, very good stuff though, if pretty exhausting to get through... I'm also caught up with Dead Dead Demon's Dedededestruction again. "Misfit internet kids trying to live and get along with each other in post-apocalyptic, slowly disintegrating, militarized japan w/ a bunch of parallels to the current political and social climate" is a pretty easy sell for me when it's done so well. I guess that's kind of a terse, incomplete description, but it's the bit that makes the rest of it work, at least for me. I was pretty sick of anime and manga for a while; I'm glad I'm finally finding some decent stuff lately between these and Houseki No Kuni. |

finished mob psycho 100. what a good fuckin show. and unlike CERTAIN OTHER SHOWS I STARTED LOVING A LOT RECENTLY, it might someday soon get a season 2. and by "might someday soon" i mean "was literally just announced to be coming out in january"

| I've started a couple new manga. The first is Eden: It's An Endless World, which is set in near-future dystopian world where a pandemic called the Closure Virus (autoimmune-induced hardening/cracking skin, paralysis and death essentially) kills about 15% of the world's population and causes massive political upheaval. Draws a lot from gnostic mythology. It's almost too violent for me at points, but the art is phenomenal and it's pretty thoughtfully written for something of this type. I also read Nijigahara Holograph, which is pretty much impossible to describe in a format like this. It's required multiple re-reads and I still don't feel I fully get what happened. |
